Very sorry to see this, glad you are ok, I wondering what dealer you just left, I just bought my Mustang on Wednesday night in Columbia, and I didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling about the place.

Did it happen to be apple ford?

Thanks. I didn't think it was the same car either. That guy was a scammer and dropped something between the seats claiming it was Ford's defect that caused the burns to his interior. I'm pretty sure he was exposed and Ford denied the warranty work.

At leas the bright side is you'll have a brand spanking new Mustang either way- from Ford or your insurance. I can't imaging it was anything you did though that Ford isn't going to get you a new car on them.

Apple Ford has some real clowns in the service bay. Bent my F150's license plate in half and left a heatshield dangling under the truck.

"Truck is ready sir!"

Is it?

Service manager is pretty top notch, though. May have been an isolated incident. Don't really want them touching my Mustang, though.

I am glad no one was injured. I also think it was the dealerships fault. I hope this doesn't turn you off from mustangs.

Just picked my car back up from the dealership for some warranty issues. Driving on the freeway and noticed some white smoke coming from the hood. It progressively got worse so I pulled over into the shoulder. Instinctively thought the car was over heating and it was steam from the radiator. So I proceeded to pop the hood as flames burst from the edges of the hood.

Here's the outcome.

Insurance is going to love me. There were no mods to the car. It had 6k miles.

Hey 5ohslow,

I’m glad to see that you are safe. Your poor Pony! :brokenheart:

I understand your insurance is all over this; I’ve also arranged to have somebody from our Customer Relationship Center reach out to you to document this.

Keeps us updated as much as you are allowed to say. I see no reason how you or your insurance should be responsible for this kind of huge fire; that you did anything.

Hopefully Ford will replace the vehicle on its dime and not put it on your insurance raising your rates, as this was 99% some type of catastrophic fuel/electrical system failure with that big a fire and that much damage. And it doesn't sound like the service touched anything under the hood. There's really nothing else it could be if it came from under the hood as it appears from the pics.

Glad your ok. My bet is the mechanic left a glove, rag or something in the bay and it caught fire. Definitely doesn't look fuel related.

My '68 AMX caught on fire after a Mounting Bolt broke-off the A/C Compressor and fell down into the Alternator, shorting it out. Big Electrical Fire. Needed new

Wire Harness. Friend was driving behind me and had some bolt cutters to sever the battery cable.

Mustang could have had a problem after the Battery was disconnected for working on the seats, and some thing (or tool) left in the battery compartment after reconnection, shorted one of the leads after rolling around during the drive home.
