I'd contact your local body shops, they have databases to get used parts off wrecked cars and should be able to you one for a lot less.

I'm sure your aware, but if not stay away from after market junk.

Checked w/racing buddy... not a good idea. Even with the cover, I might get gigged for busted headlight....I did find them on Rockauto.com for $760...save you a little bit.

I believe it's a sealed unit from Ford. To take off just the clear lens usually requires baking the entire assembly in the oven to loosen the glue then slowly, and carefully, getting the lens to separate from the housing. That's why Ford (and several other mtgs, i.e. BMW) don't sell replacement lens. Good luck!

The first only has damage elsewhere and the lens seems ok. Swap it over per your original plan. There is instructions on the diy section on how to remove the lens.

For a headlight mod project I didn't want to modify my factory buckets so I bought used on eBay. Took them apart by repeatedly applying heat. After the mod was done sealed them back together. If you can find a cheap used one with a decent lens you could do the same if you're handy.

Try car-part.com. They're a search engine for wrecking yards. You should be able to find a used headlight on there for about the price of your deductible, with the added benefit of not having a claim reported on your car's carfax.
