Spoke with a rep from Ford Performance at the American Muscle show today. It seems the hold up on a final solution is final packaging. They are still not 100% sure on how to offer the kits. Much debate over what's included in each kit. Do they just tackle the trans or did the rear diff as well? I said I think most people would be happy with a kit that could get us through the typical 20 minutes HPDE session with cool down between sessions. So chime in if I'm right or wrong! They do read the forums and trust me they made it clear they want to fix the mistake the marketing team made.
This doesn't sound like a kit is close this sound like stage 1 discussions.

The rear diff has a cooler because they thought one was necessary?

One thread had part numbers now they haven't decided what to include??

How is this packaging? What have they actually done?

Of course I want a diff cooler. I would expect that high differential temperatures are going to be the next issue once the transmission no longer gets hot.

The manual recommends I buy a trans cooler and a diff cooler. I would like to follow Ford's recommendations and do that.

Could we ( all base/tech owners ) start some sort of electronic petition that we could send to Ford performance or anyone higher up the food chain at Ford corporate !

How hard is it to make a trans cooler kit and a diff cooler kit?

You'd figure that a car manufacturer would have all the needed parts in house to put the different kits together. The only hard part is making sure they had enough to sell to the tech/base owners wanting them.

How was this a mistake by the marketing team? The issue itself or the delay in releasing the fix?

All I want in life {my bucket list is almost full} is to be able to do a 20 minute HPDE without the car going into limp mode. Please!!!!! :ford:

Marketing advertised exactly what they were told to market from FP.

I see it as either an engineering mistake or an executive management mistake

When the decision was made to remove the cooling from the car the mistake was made

So either some exec was trying to hit a $50k price point or the engineers just didn't realize how detrimental to the performance of the car removing the coolers actually was.

Agree 100%, that's why I wanted clarification. I wish we had a Ford Performance rep on the forum, but I personally wouldn't want that guy/gals job :ford:

A few things to add some clarity:

The Ford Performance Vehicle team through coordination with marketing and executives made the 2015/2016 packing options. All indications point the lack of coolers allowed the car to hit the marketing $49,995 price point, but still hit performance metrics for street use. The Ford Performance Parts team now working on the coolers had nothing to do with this decision. They're just left with fixing or enhancing what the vehicle team did so let's not attack them. Keep in mind all Ford Performance Parts are tested to the same levels as the OEM parts that came on the car so things take a lot longer than the other aftermarket companies. As far as the vehicle team is concerned the problem is fixed with the packing changes for 2017. They're all on to the next Ford Performance vehicles.

While they'll probably never comment on the board the Ford Performance team (all divisions) does monitor this and other sites regularly looking for feedback and ideas. I know they'd like to be more engaged, but I'm sure they have a social media policy that doesn't allow them to engage customers directly unless it's through controlled means. A social media policy like this is typical at large companies. Hence why we only get the official customer service rep accounts on sites.

Effectively the diff has a much higher rate of tolerance than the trans in terms of heat. Hence the decision on packing creating the issue. Do they add additional expense to cover everything or just tackle the trans since that would us through the typical HPDE session on a hot day?

I'm probably oversharing, but this is what I got from a pretty extensive conversation this weekend.

Let's face it. Someone at ford screwed this up. Someone at ford needs to offer a fix. If ford is paying for it then fix both at once.

But if not then, what we need is a scalable package. One that lets me save every penny not going to the auto loan or the insurance payment to fix the issues as I can afford to. My priority is the transmission cooler. That is the cause of "no fun mode", easier to damage, and the most costly to replace. Then I will fix the diff issue.

I'm not the run all day at a track guy, but I would like to run for a while rest then run some more.

What about an engine cooler? Anyone have a link to the Ford Engine Cooler? For those wanting the trans and diff cooler, are you doing the engine too?

Do you mean Engine Oil cooler? That is standard on all GT350s including base and tech.
