I use the Motorcraft brand as specified in the owners manual.

Play it safe and use all Motorcraft materials for an oil change. If something should fail, don't give Ford a reason to deny.

Amsoil. It meets Ford specs. Not gonna start a warranty debate; sure that horse is dead. But they can’t deny a warranty claim for using a different brand oil that meets (or exceeds) the specs they specify. There’s laws against that and there’s even an Act on your, the consumers, side.

From Amsoil site: 5W-50 Meets Ford WSS-M2C931-C (Mustang*)
According to the 2017 Shelby GT 350 supplement the specification should be
WSS-M2C931-B. What am I missing?

I just changed my oil and checked and the FMC oil is designated “C”

I'm not an oil expert..but it seems like it would be nearly impossible for a dealer to look at your oil and have any knowledge on what brand of oil you're using.

No, but if the claim was oil related, say an engine failure, they may ask for proof.
