'18 Manifold + Intake Questions

So I am anticipating going FBO + E85 here in the next few weeks. I will be going '18 intake manifold and a tune required intake.

I have read around a little bit and see people mentioning that the you have to modify the intake slightly to work with the '18 manifold. What exactly needs to be modified?

Also, I have read a few instances of the intake no longer clearing the hood after the '18 + intake install. Is this true with all of the intakes or is it a specific one and what are people doing to circumvent this?

I recommend removing the CMCV's on the 18' manifold and lock them out. Most tuners will recommend you do this. You will also need to reroute vacuum lines to work with the 18' manifold. A tune is required afterwards, or it will run like crap. The manifold will clear the hood 100%.

Sorry I should have been more specific. I was asking about fitment with the intake tubes not the manifold.

I did my install this weekend and everything went well except for what I was worried about. The PMAS intake I bought for it fit like utter garbage and I will be swapping to the JLT intake today.

You may need a different size/length coupler to take up the inlet angle difference. My GT350 CAI fit fine, though.

the '18 intake is angled higher in the front. Your intake may or may not hit when the hood is closed, also fitment may both on the throttle body or to the airbox.

VikingJoe - did you use a JLT intake for a 15-17 application or for a 2018?

I put a 15-17 JLT on my 2018 manifold-equipped 2017 GT, and it hits the hood enough that I don’t want to just slam it shut and hope for the best. Maybe an angled silicone coupler?

Yes, for a 15-17. I just angled the coupler down, didn't have to cut it either.

This. Don't go too far, though, as too much angle will make the coupler not seal properly.

No need for cuts. A small angle when installing does wonders. We install them all of the time without getting any new couplers. If you want the best fit, put a 2018 PMAS or JLT CAI on the car too.
