what are the cables connected to the hood heat extractor for ? I don't see that they do anything.

what are the cables connected to the hood heat extractor for ? I don't see that they do anything.
If you are talking about electronic cables, some S550s had turn signals in the heat extractors. You can get them aftermarket as well.

no I'm talking about the cables connected to them not wires. I watching a youtube video of installing a set of Roush extractors and seen the originals had cables on them and looked at mine and they have them too. its under the hood insulation.

I also noticed the cables the other day...inspecting every inch of my new to me mustang. From what I read the clips that hold the OEM extractors are a little weak.

Best guess is that Ford put those on in case they fly off while moving at a decent rate of speed (within legal limits of course). Slightly educated guess though 60% of the time I'm right 100% of the time...

I read in some long lost thread the cables are to keep the extractors from becoming missiles in a front end collision.
