Hi All

In the next month or two i will hopefully be purchasing my first mustang .
the question i would like to ask is. is the 17 plate cars any better that the 16 plate cars .
the reason i ask is i have read about earlier cars suffering air con and oil cooler problems and also cheaper tax on the 17 plate cars.

thanks mike.

I think all years have suffered from the oil cooler issue, not sure about the face lifted ones though, they maybe ok.

The 17s get Sync 3 and lower tax (£140 a year v £450).

anything after i think 29th july 2019 should have the fixed cooler on which is less prone to failure but i don't think there's any guarantee to not be screwed by it.
i think the only actual difference is that some of the 17 plate cars benefit from the £180 a year road tax whereas mine (oct 16) is 600 or something like that anyway

Thanks for info.

my budget will be around the 27 mark would love a shadow edition but just out my price range i think. maybe a nice 17 plate if im lucky .

got to wait another couple of months if i can resist.

i do have another question folks does anyone park their mustang in a tight garage and if so what is the width needed so that the door can be opened to get out.

thanks mike.

Early model year 2017 cars started to appear in the U.K. some time round July 2016. Anything with sync 3 with a tit on the roof and registered in 16/17 is a my17 car. However if the car is registered in 17 the tax will be cheaper. I know some folks who had their cars arrive in 2016 delayed registration until jan 17 to benefit from this. I was impatient and stupidly registered mine in Dec 16 :(

It was April 2017 it changed, that’s when the first year became nearly 2 grand but every year after that is £145 at current rates as long as the list price of the car was less than 40k, if it was over 40k then you are still paying an extra £320 a year on top of the standard £145 for years 2-6 then back to standard rates. It’s rather confusing is how they do it now but not complaining as mine was registered December 18 and had list rrp of £39,985 so cheap tax from now on :like:
