'15 GT or wait for Focus RS?

My Ecoboost Mustang just hasn't been doing it for me. I love the looks but the sound and driving feel are missing in my opinion. It feels too refined and restrained even with the Magnaflow catback I still cant hear the exhaust while driving. I miss my WRX I traded in a lot so I think it's down to an RS, STI, or v8 Mustang or Camaro to replace my Mustang. I think I'd be going for a 2017 RS so hopefully ADM wouldn't be an issue and the dealer I got my Mustang from would give me a decent deal.

I wouldnt trade an EB for a newer STi. It'd be SS Camaro, RS or 5.0 in no particular order. Well, i lied. I would definitely go with an RS. I feel there's more upside and its going to MUCH less common to see one. I like the rarity of that car. Plus, as we have all been saying, AWD is tough to replace.

Well considering the ST already held its own against the WRX with the front drive layout, and was known to destroy wrexys from a roll, it's going to bury them now, and be a heck of a lot more comfortable doing so and with a huge horsepower and torque advantage. My baby ST with just a tune, intercooler, intake and exhaust lays down 291hp/394tq as it sits. That's just short of the RSs 345hp and around 430tq from the stock 252/270 it was rated at.

The RS with even basic mods will be a monster.

Nobody cares what your wrongwheeldrive ST does or doesnt do lol. However, i do agree with you on the matter of the RS being a mod-hungry beast. Simple dp, up, exhaust, intake and a tune (roughly $3k in parts?) will most likely net you about 60whp. It'll be nothing (still, speculating) to get this car to 400whp. :shrug:

If you like direct injection more power too you. Its garbage. Ill take the ej257 that is proven over 1000whp. A full bolt on wrx 2010+ will not be walked by an st. Not sure who youre lining up against. Comfort is subjective

But we'll probably replace her ST with an RS come 2017 or 2018. I liked the WRX/STI, and at the time for us it was that or the Focus. We choose the Focus with no regrets at all.

I could care less about how a car is injected. I don't race, not my thing. But I do buy cars and mod them to how I like.

There is no anger from me. Your comparison is inaccurate. Stock turbo wrx and sti can go mid-low 11s. My own daily driver personal sti before i put a gt35 on it went 11.4@119. This isnt my weekend car. You dont care because and thats fine. But if you like modding them and low maintenance costs you would care. Dont misunderstand i think the st and ecoboost engine as a whole is neat as well as the rs. But Di ruins it.

Yeah I've heard some less than awesome stuff about direct injection and the limits it puts on firming. I know they're limited to a bit over 400whp as is without aux fueling on the ST. That's just silly. It sucks to see an otherwise stellar package limited like that.

The carbon build up and the fact hpfp cant keep up with the fuel supply demand for high hp builds. At least at this time. Im sure most people wont want 1000whp like evo and sti owners do but it limits its growth potential. Not to mention fuel system upgrades cost double what standard fuel injection costs are. Whats crappy for the ecoboost engine as a whole as it has 32% worse flowing heads then subarus. Thats super bad. For the longest time ej motors were thought of as asthmatic. Im know the heads ill be improved for the rs. But im not thinking they will outflow even subaru heads. Which is unfortunate. I was a bit shocked to find out even with a 6466 it doesnt make more then 670whp Sti/wrxs are making 750-850 with that turbo. Evos have broke into the 930s with it. But back to the fuel supply issue the biggest limiting factor will be hpfp even if the heads get a bunch of port work.

I just don't understand why Ford made the RS into a limited build. I can see if they took the "focus" out of the equation, made it into a whole new car, then I can see just the moniker RS being something special. I mean, its not like we haven't seen this before. Focus RS always been mass produced in Europe for ages and we are getting the same 2.3 mustang engine just with a different turbo and reworked intake..we always had the evo, STi, and Golf R. I don't know.... The more I think about this I'm glad I just got the eb mustang. I just can't see myself paying over $40k for this. I bet you after the initial year run Ford will mass produce the focus RS. Why wouldn't they? We have other car companies that are releasing compact turbo awd and I'm sure Ford will like to stay relevant but who knows.

At the same boost level? Lets not forget Adam ran into some hard coded issues with the AP that was limiting the boost he could run. COBB has been working on this issue so the car is capable of more with that turbo, but the platform is still in troubleshooting phases when it comes to making big things happen. I agree most RS owners won't be looking for the amount of power Evo/STi guys try to make but the majority of owners are plenty happy with those cars at 400-450whp.
