If any seal is exposed you would be wise to replace it. It is well worth putting in the new tiddly bits while it is apart. Skimping on parts at this point is a fools errand.
Typically I agree with this line of thought. My scenario is completely different. Most people don’t rebuild their transmission before their odometer hits 4 digits.

I rebuilt hundreds of transmissions in the early 80s working at Aamco. I woild not even attempt to fix what is out there today.

I rebuilt hundreds of transmissions in the early 80s working at Aamco. I woild not even attempt to fix what is out there today.
I hear you, today's TM are computer controlled and complicated compared to Turbo 350-400 or C6 etc. Even when transmissions were basic, I still left that part for experienced people who do them on a daily basis without issues.
