1000whp Question

I’m interested in buying a 2019 GT with 8k miles. The car has a gen 5 whipple making just over 1k to the wheels. The only part of the motor that’s been change is the opg and sprocket. I’m aware a stock engine cannot live forever at that power. However, if the car is currently running with no damage can I throw on a bigger pulley and make around 800 while retaining a bit more reliability and longevity of the motor? It has supporting fueling, headers with cats. 2.9 pulley. Looking to go to a 3.5

I currently have an 800whp 2015, Im just worried that too much boost would damage the engine and carry that damage over. Do you know anything I can look for when I check the car out? Without tearing into it.

You can do a compression check, you can check spark plugs and etc etc doesn’t mean you will find underlying damage that can occur with a lonely 60-130 pull or a random roll race while driving down the highway. Like I said before it’s a crap shoot and you have to be ready to deal with the consequences!

@Proshop pretty much nailed it. Going down in boost will certainly lessen the strain on the engine but there’s never any guarantee. Wouldn’t hurt to make sure the oil and coolant are clean too… any coolant in the oil (or Vice versa) is bad news.

Yup.. what @Proshop said. See if the seller would share data log file(s). If they can and the parameters they share can provide some good insight on both car and owner.

Get the oil tested , good heads up for what may be wearing . When i get my GT blown i will get oil test every 5000km on oil changes .

anything over 600rwhp is just bonkers imo for a street car.

If you want to run 93 slap a 3.75 pulley, 3.625 is a bit much for that octane. If it’s on E right now and you plan to stay on E, slap a 3.5 and you should need a slightly bigger belt.

1000whp is A SHIT TON of power. The fact that the motor is still stock would be alarming to me -- as the owner of a 900whp TT car with a forged motor. On my 900 setting, the car is literally not drivable on the street and downright dangerous.

Regarding that motor and if it will pop -- The question is not if, but when.....
