So, I got the ODBLink MX, FORScan (Ext. License), As-Build Comparer, and I'm looking into what we can do to the FACTORY H/U, ACM, AMP to support "Speaker Only" upgrades. If you are doing "Speakers Only" - STOP what you are doing and look up the ODBLink MX and research FORScan.
I think that upgrading the tweeters is a great start, but then you find out they're too "Bright" because of the factory EQ.
3.5" help with clarity and highs (center), but IMHO if you don't do something about the Bass Roll-off, changing the 6.5" in the doors or rear is kind of a waste.
This is a 2015 EcoBoost Premium, Performance Package, 50th, 201A with everything - your As-Built-Data may be different.
Under ACM:
727-01-02 0388 xx [Checksum - disregard last two digits]
Symptoms:
Bass Roll-off, Tweeter +3db (or more!) boost, volume at 2 (of 5 large bars) at cruise and there was NO shaking bass, barely felt kick drums, no vibration in doors [not talking about NVH or Rattles].
Changed to:
727-01-02 0988 xx due to a couple random suggestions with NO data to back it up.
Review:
More noticeable Bass, Tweeters are reduced (back to +3 bars on Tone Settings), Volume at 2 (of 5 large bars) was LOUDER after resetting the Speed Compensated Volume to 7, had to go a couple small bars UNDER 2 at cruise, there is obvious Bass, Good kick drums, rear view mirror vibration, door panels vibrating, no noises, rattles or clipping noted at that level.
*All User settings in the ACM will be reset - recheck before testing.*
Bass was reset to 0 when the ACM gets flashed (for ANYTHING)
Mid - 0
Treble - 0
Front/Rear - 0
Left/Right - 0
Speed Compensated Volume - Off
**Be advised, there is a perceptible volume difference (on the plus side)**
I'll add graphs and charts when my battery tender gets here, I almost flattened the battery 2x in just the 4 hours that I've owned the ODBLink MX - Order them together... ;)
