Some folks might be aware of Craig's Custom Mustang Brackets. The products provided are an excellent solution to mount the front plate without drilling holes in the bumper cover. I've had one for my 2007 GT, I have one now for my 2010 GT and also one for my 2001 Bullitt.

I've been in touch with Craig about the S550 front bumper and how a mounting solution would be devised. The trick will be to insert the lower arms of the bracket and then secure them without removing the plastic grilles. The '94-'04s and '05-'14 have open lower grilles in order to mount and tighten the wingnuts that clamp the bracket to the bumper cover.

He told me that he will be doing his measurements and design work in early August to finalize a product. I am attaching a photo he shared about how this would work.

I have faith he will produce a great product that will save the front bumper covers from being drilled. It might be good for folks with the EcoBoost model to drop him a line and let him know you are interested, as I think he will be working on the GT first.

For those of you outside of North America, I also suggest contacting him and describing what your potential requirements would be.

I am passing along information as a satisfied customer of a product with great fitment and NO DRILLING!

Where it mounts on my 2010 and how it is prevented from touching the front bumper cover...

Interesting. How strong are those supports coming out of the grill? If they're weak (i.e. plastic), it seems like wind resistance would push on it and maybe cause it to bang up against the bumper and scratch it.

Edit: never mind, now that you posted the second picture, it looks like I see a rubber spacer between the plate and the bumper.

A couple questions:
- Does the rubber spacer rub away at the paint over time?
- Does he plan on different versions for each type of grille (i.e. the adaptive cruise control grille)?

Answers
- no...it's soft and the friction holds it nicely; on all 3 of my cars, no spots have developed after multiple years of ownership and in all weather conditions
- he has done different versions for other model years when the grill configurations were different; that's why I mentioned it would be good for EcoBoost owners to contact him

I went with Craig's on my Boss, good product.

I'm gonna try the manual version of the Hide The Plate so I can use it at car shows, cruise's, or maybe around town...If I don't like it, then I'll get one of Craig's.

Anyone have 1st hand experience with the Hide The Plate?

An update on the bracket production from Craig -

"I will have to look at the Ecoboost grill when I can. The V-6 Ecoboost won’t be the priority, the GT will be initially. Euro plates fit my bracket configuration already."

any updates for the GT version?
As mentioned in the first post, Craig won't be doing his verification work until early August. My guess is that we will know before the end of August what changes will be needed to the bracket design. I have no doubts that he will be on it as soon as he gets access to a car. He's waiting like the rest of us :)

I have used this product (Craig's) and I can not recommend it and I will not buy it for a future Mustang. I do not want my bumper drilled but will look for a different product for a '15 (or maybe '16) model year Mustang. I do not like the design of the Craig's part; it does not work well for me. I have no problem with the service I had nor with the workmanship on the product; it just does not work as I wanted.

Front license plate bracket

What are those of you who are required by law to have a front plate doing about the brackets? I really don't want to get holes drilled into the bumper and have been scoping a few of the alternatives for the "no drill" brackets...which ironically still need to be drilled in (into a hidden part of the bumper).

Which one will be easiest to install and still look decent? I have about 2 weeks until delivery so id like to figure out which to order so they don't try drilling into my car which will be registered in VA.

Thanks in advance!
