[UPDATE 8/21/14]:

Per Ford's Dealer Bulletin:

Mustang & F150 Delivery Timing Estimates
The new Mustang is in production. We expect retail order scheduling of the coupe to begin in late September with dealer arrivals in November. The convertible model will follow about 30 days later.

From a Ford spokesman: “Our Job 1 customer cars will be built closer to the on-sale date, which is this Fall”

Pretty specific info you have there. I have to wonder whether they even have an exact Job #1 date nailed down already if they are still doing a lot of testing as we have heard.

I thought 14 production wrapped up way before that. For instance the GT500 is done.

Yes, in large production facilities, production, shut down, start up, maintenance is planned very well in advance, even if development or engineering is not complete. It costs a lot more to plan something late than to take the chance on not being able to follow that plan if everything isn't quite ready.

For those of you knowledgable then…

If Job #1 is on August 11th, how long after that before they start hitting lots? 3 weeks? 6 weeks?

I'm thinking of ordering in June or July. If I could get a first allocation would I be driving it in late September or early October then?

Thanks for anyone who has gone through this before.

buy september I would only get to drive it for a month before the sand hits the roads up here in the northeast. hmmmmm, that's screws with my time frame. maybe I'll have to wait until next spring.

I'm gonna wait till the 2016 mustang. 2015 might have bugs. Remember the new escape? Thing would randomly engulf in flames.

Great question, I'm curious as to the answer as well. This timeline has been such a grievance of mine. It's so late in the year and the arrival of the car in October would almost make me want to wait until Spring. It's a tough decision to wait even longer but what's the point of having the car if it just sits in the garage waiting for better weather?

The S197's started MY05, the '06's had that passenger side leak into the floorboard.
