Aftermarket Touchscreen Roundup

Can anyone describe the difference between the aftermarket touchscreen/nav units offered by Moddiction/Raxiom/Tomtop/Sintegrate?

Are these all the same units, but with different splash/startup screens?

It seems you can get one from ebay for $300. How is this different from Moddiction for $600 or Raxiom for $800?

The raxiom and Rosen are the same along with the Moddiction ones all made by sinegrate... A Tomtop is something different a cheaper knock off best descibed it

Only thing they all share is running on WinCE.

What makes the Tomtop "cheaper" besides the actual price. Crappier screen? Buggy software? Lesser feature set?

Why buy the more expensive variants?

I don't mind paying for quality, but if these are just rebadged units all coming from the same chinese factory....

Honestly they are super similar other than the new Sync 3 style look of the Sintegrate and Moddiction. My tomtop works fine and the time has always worked perfect when set an hour ahead.

TomTop has a few things that may bug people...from spelling errors, non-OEM styled bezel, bad animation start up, zero support, and an annoying beep when turning on & off. Some folks have reported DOA & glitchy / buggy UI along with temp & time issues. There is also a pricier version of it that has a better interface, more correct bezel, and wanna-be toggles. Sellers have been know to call the less expensive one a "toy" version of the pricier TT.

For the average person, IMHO the basic TT is good enough and a great price-point for what it does. It just wasn't good enough for me hence why I waited and bought a Sintegrate instead...YMMV.

The thing is if you look at all the threads, they all have the same issues and problems and continue to do so even paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars more.

There's a thread somewhere on here with the Android unit with video and all. I think you lose volume knob with the unit if that matters to you. It's definitely a nice looking unit in action; if I hadn't already purchased a unit when that thread was posted I would've seriously considered it.

I think I will wait till next year,hopefully someone has perfected their unit? Maybe pioneer or another manufacturer will produce a new head unit lol.Maybe a stupied question I own a V6
can you go with Ford OEM parts and buy a separate 8 inch face plate? I know the controls on a premium are different having dual heater controls etc?:shrug:
