I finally completed my GT350 Spare Tire/Wheel Solution and I thought it was worth sharing, even though it may not suit everyone.

MY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be full size tire/wheel, and must fit into the spare tire well
2. Must be same circumference as OEM tires. (85 1/2 in. circumference)
3. Must Clear Brembo Brakes and must fit on Front Or Rear Of Car

I started by finding the narrowest aluminum wheel that would fit on the GT350 Front and Rear. I caught a MMD Axim 19 x 8.5 Silver wheel on sale that was on clearance at American Muscle. (Cost 111.00)
I then found a 19" tire for a 6 1/2" rim that would measure 85 1/2 circumference. I found a Good Used Tire (Bridgestone 175/60/R19 tire on eBay from (GoodUsedTires). Cost 53.00
I Sent the MMD Axim Wheel to: WeldCraft Wheels Inc (Lavonia, MI) to have 2 inches taken out of wheel (Narrowed 2") (Cost 200.00) plus shipping both ways.
I bought a chrome Valve stem from eBay (Cost 2.50)

Total Cost: 394.00

Nice work. I did the full width Axim and sacrificed 3" of trunk height. Didn't realize a wheel could be thinned down. Were you able to get a scissor jack underneath?

Yes, Plenty of room for the jack, lug wrench +Orig. Compressor/tire sealant, (I had a nice Red Torin scissors jack I had bought from Northern Tool)

Great job! Peace of mind. I was having visions of my splitter getting ripped off while being drug onto a roll back.

Nice project . . I would feel much better on the road with that in my trunk of my GT350.
I had Weldcraft Wheels add 1-1/2 inches to my '94 GT stock wheels to keep the stock look but run 305's in the rear. They do excellent work, measured the total runout on the welded wheel less than .005".

I called American Muscle today and they did not have them. They suggested an AMR wheel with 5.9 back spacing.Any one else know where to get the MMR Axiom with 6.1 back spacing?I do not care about color.Any other wheels recommended?Probsbly a dumb question(sorry if it is),but would any wheel with that or larger back spacing work?If so would the wheel width still be able to be cut down and still work. Thanks to the original poster for addressing a very important subject and something I really want to do.

Great question. I'm trying to build a spare now as well and looking at various wheel options. Not being a wheel specialist myself, does anyone know what offset and backspacing is required?

Thanks!

How can you determine if a certain wheel will clear the Brembo brake? Is there a number like offset, spacing, etc that you can go by or is it trial and error? I assume the width is not as important since you're narrowing it to 6.5" anyway. Thanks.

When I was searching for a spare wheel (Originally) I wasn't too concerned about the offset of the wheel as I knew I would be narrowing it.
What WAS important was "Would it fit the GT350"
If I knew it would fit the GT350 then I knew it would work for me. (I also bolted it on my car when I received it to make sure it would fit -both front and rear.
The orig. MMD part number was: 101031G15
Here are the specs:

Manufacturer: Modern Muscle Design Style: Axim
Size: 19x8.5 Finish: Silver
Placement: Front or Rear Centercap Size: Large (2-1/2")
Back Spacing: 6.1" (156mm) Offset: +35mm (1.4")
Bolt Pattern: 5x4.5" (5x114.3mm) Weight: - lbs
Material: Aluminum Lip Size : N/A
Best Tire : 245/45-19 Year/Model: 2015-2016 V6, EcoBoost

I understand they no longer carry this wheel.

Since American Muscle is no longer carrying this wheel, I went searching and found this wheel.

It says it will clear Brembo brakes and will fit Shelby. The best part is that it's on sale for only $95.00 In your opinion, do you think it'll fit? Thanks.

Good Looking wheel !
By the picture it seems to have a lot of spoke curvature, which is what it needs to clear the Brembo's.
Great Price too, Mine was 112.00

One thing I might have done differently, I would have it narrowed to 6" (If possible), It would fit in the wheel well a little better.

Are you going to try using this? I might also try it and see if it will work. But have to get my car first hopefully in the next few weeks. Its on a train headed my way.
