I'm trying to disable my doors from auto-locking and auto-unlocking. In the owner's manual it says you can enable or disable them independently in the Information Display (see green highlight). But on a different page in the OM it only shows the autounlock being configurable.

If I go to the Information Display on the car, it only shows the "Autounlock" feature to either check on or off (as the 2nd page in the OM shows). See snap-shots out of the OM. What' the scoop ... ??

Per the green highlighted part from the owner's manual shown in post #1 above, it makes it sound like you can configure "autolock" and "autounlock" separately on the Information Display menus.

But when I go into the Information Display menus, I only see the "autounlock" under the "Lock" menu. I'm thinking that the "autolock" is always active and can not be turned off, at least through the Information Display menu.

Anyone actually see the "autolock" in the menus?

I hate the auto-lock and can't understand why anyone would want something like that. It's such a hassle every day, e.g. when dropping the kids of at school (when other people open the door).

I've been fighting with both the dealer and Ford CSR since I received the car back in January. I've been told both that it should be possible and that it shouldn't. Still no solution!

Arrrgh, many new cars are so annoying with stuff like that, along with all the warning beeps.

I have probably turned off that as I sure hope mine doesn't do that. It's not like I want it locked every time I leave it, e.g. in the garage.

I talk about auto-locking when I drive off. To me, this is crazy and nothing I had ever heard of, or experienced, until I moved to US. It's a hassle every day I drop the kids off at school. At their school people stand in line opening the doors for everyone to make it smooth for the kids to get out. So annoying that they have to grab the door handle only to find it locked. Unlocking while driving is a real distraction.

It is also annoying every time you pick up someone, and I just do not want to be locked in! I know some people feel the need to lock themselves in. I guess I'm lucky (for not having a reason to), as I do not. It's kind off the opposite as I just dislike locked doors and do not want to feel locked in.

How hard is it to hit the unlock button to let someone in or out?

I guess you don't think so, but doing it before someone grabs the door is very distracting in my opinion.

And more importantly, why shouldn't it be possible to disable such crap? Many people, including me, do not want to be locked in, and do not feel comfortable with being so.

This video is supposed to apply to the Mustang as well, but I could not get this procedure to work. If someone else figures it out, please let us know!

You are never locked in. I tested my locks and I can open the doors from the inside no matter what ... even if I'm going down the road at 30 MPH, I can grab the handle inside the door and it will open.

I also find out that nobody can open the doors from the outside IF the car is running, even if "auto-unlock" is enabled in the Information Display menu.

If you wanted someone to open the door from the outside when the car is running, then you'll have to hit the door unlock button from the inside to unlock the door.

From my testing, if the "auto-unlock" is enabled (checked), the doors will unlock as soon as the car is stopped and the engine is shut off. If the "auto-unlock" is disabled (not checked), the door will stay locked after the car is stopped and the engine is off. The only way to unlock them so someone could open them from the outside would be to unlock them from the button inside the car, or by simply opening the driver's door.

I guess I don't understand how you feel "locked in." To get out you just open the door the same as if it were unlocked.

On the 2015 Mustang, you can enable or disable "auto-unlock" in the Information Display menu. The owner's manual makes it sound like you can also enable or disable "autolock" too ... BUT it does not show up in the menus.

Maybe you have to do it with the programing steps in the video above. I guess I don't have a problem with the doors auto-locking, or unlocking until I open the door. Only thing that might be bad is if you crash and are unconscious inside the car and the doors are locked, it might pose a problem for someone to get you out in a timely manner. Then on the other hand, you might want them to auto-lock if you don't want some crazy zombie trying to hi-jack your Mustang. :)

I understand that might not make sense to everyone, especially if you're used to locked doors and don't mind it.

I know very well I can open the door at any time, but I'm still locked in, or like you might want to put it, everyone else is locked out. I do not want that.

This is nothing we need to haggle over; of course people will feel different, like on most subjects. Since people do always want different things, it's good if there are options. And in this case there is no easy way to disable the auto-lock.

So, what it boils down to from what I understand how the door locks work, the doors will autolock when you take off in the car, and remain locked even when you stop and have the engine off, until you open the driver's door. All the other door(s) will open also IF auto-unlock is enabled.

Its mainly a safety feature so while your driving your kids or who ever doesn't open the door at speed. Are people really that lazy to hit a button to open the door? lol

Like I said above, I tested the front doors in my GT ... while driving 30 MPH I could open my door from the inside with the handle. The autolocks do not lock the doors from the inside, only from the outside ... at least on the 2015 Mustang.
