Livernois Balance Shaft Delete Kit allows you to free up some some rotational drag and remove weight from the engine.

The balance shaft delete kit allows you to remove the entire balance shaft carriage assembly from the engine.

This allows the engine to rev quicker as it's not having to spin the balance shafts. The carriage assembly with shafts included weighs in at about 18 lbs. Using the delete kit allows you cut to that weight off the engine and car.

Those are there because the engine is unbalanced being an inline 4...why would you take them out?

Couple questions - How much? Is there a noticeable increase in NVH? How hard is the install? Do you have more pictures like what the entire assembly looks like? Thanks.

Pretty common modification on performance cars. I had a Sentra SE-R when I was a teenager and that mod was worth about 10 hp across the rev range and the increased vibration wasn't super noticeable.

The engine itself is definitely balanced, however the balance shaft helps with the natural second order vibrations that exist in all 4-cylinder engines. This isn not really intended for someone that is going to daily drive their vehicle, and not run it hard, it's intended for the customer chasing every ounce of power and performance advantage possible. With a properly balanced 4-cylinder engine it don't create any durability side effects, only NVH related issues.

We are still finalizing the price, and will begin testing it soon for an honest opinion on the amount NVH increases. As for the install, it's rather straight forward, if you have the engine out for upgrades anyways. We do suspect the NVH increase to be minimal since a longitudinal engine configuration transmits less of this force into the cabin than a transverse engine would.

As for pictures of the whole assembly, do you mean the factory balance box?

How does a "balance shaft delete kit" give my Stang better balance?

Yeah, the factory balance box. I'm guessing it looks similar to what's in a Mazdaspeed 3, but I'm curious if you don't have pictures no worries.

Weight off the front = closer to 50/50 by 0.005% ? ;)

Less weight, more HP, and one less thing to break at a track day. Hope there cost is reasonable!

Seems cool but I feel like 90% of us got this car to be a daily unless we would've opted for the 5.0. Just my .02

Understood that it's only second order vibrations but like you said, unless it's a track only car I sure wouldn't want them. Interesting development for sure!

I will be doing this, whether livernois or some other company, mainly because with every upgrade for the ecoboost, you add weight up front, and this is an easy way to delete weight up there and remove rotating mass.

Its great to see this product being produced. It seems like taking out the balance shaft is an easy process.

For anyone concerned about vibrations, if your motor is in the state to remove the balance shafts its most likely getting built.

So the entire rotating assembly should get balanced along with the flywheel. At the same time you can add a Fluidampr which does a good job of absorbing some of that NVH.

If I ever do build my motor the balance shafts are going!
