We’ve been waiting quite patiently for the all-new Mustang, and no one is more excited than Matt to try both the Ecoboost and V8 GT versions at the track. First, we get a taste of the Ecoboost with its 2.3L Turbocharged engine, Recaro Seats, and the Performance Pack:

As you can see in the videos, both the 4-cylinder and V8 Mustangs are hugely improved from their predecessors, but even we will admit that Willow Springs, a fast, smooth, and open race track is not the correct place to show off either the power of the 2.3T, or the competence over bumps that the new IRS should bring to the table. Mustangs have always been great at track work, but the real improvements should make themselves clear when we get one on the road.

He's clearly revving it up, and running into the TQ drop pas 5500RPM. I could see the flex on the hood, but mostly he doesn't seem happy due to it not being a V8. I on the other hand, think it's awesome.

I saw this vid earlier and could not catch the hood flex. Which area on the hood was it?

Around the 5 minute mark, there's some vibration around the front... Not so much flex that I can see, maybe it's camera shake. But, he's not the first to make the comment.

Watched that part over and over and i could not detect it in the video. Ok for me though, not planning to see 120 in my gt convertible. :) I think I remember Zombie mention the hood flex while driving.

The fact that he hit the speed limiter at 120 must mean he wasn't even driving the performance package ecoboost because doesn't it go up to around 150mph?

looks like pp to me. has dash gauges and turned aluminum trim.

Edit: Just watched, he says he hit the rev limiter in 4th gear at 120, not speed limiter.

Don't like the comment about the hood shaking at 120mph.

Wait. He catches and easily blows by an F-RS and a GTI, but he says the Ecoboost Mustang doesn't have enough juice for the track? I call BS!

It seems like at the end that the FRS and GTI slowed down enough to let him pass. but yes, out of those 3 the eco should be better

They started well before he did, and he caught up to them in very short order.

I think he meant that Ecoboost doesn't have enough juice for the track compared to the GT. I'm not impressed with any of the Ecoboost reviews I've seen yet.

The frs is hardly a straight line rocket. Stock they run high 14s in the 1/4 mile.
