There is a Castrol Edge Product that meets ACEA A5/B5. The problem that seems to muddy the waters is that while it meets a range of Ford Specs, Castrol Edge does not meet WSS-M2C913-D (the spec for the Coyote Engine). For example, Castrol Edge Data Sheet lists Ford Specs WSS- M2C..... (153-H, 929-A, 930-A, 937-A, 945-A, 946-A). But not 913-D.Sure is :eyebulge:
Guys I just remembered something, when I spoke to Castrol they said there is an Edge A5 ie Ford spec oil but it's rare and specified by Land Rover.
Also getting mixed up in this is the opinions from Castrol (and some Ford dealers in my experience) that Castrol Edge is "good oil", so should be OK. I have no doubt that the oil is of good quality, it is just not the correct spec.
Separately on the topic of the cost of the oil on the Ford Service Invoice, I don't put too much faith in the cost allocations. In my case, I was advised that the Ford Australia fixed price for 15,000km applied ($435). The dealer just conveniently split up the costs to equal $435. They listed them as Labour $130.98, Parts $142.15, POL $122.32, Tax $39.55. On the first page of the invoice, the oil was listed at $131.04, and the filter at $11.11 (shown as Parts $142.15). Surprisingly POL was listed as "Synthetic C3 5W/30 $96.52 and Supplies/Enviro Charges $25.80. Given that no Synthetic C3 5W/30 went anywhere near my car, I think the whole thing is a balancing/allocation exercise to hit the quoted $435.
