I think you are grossly underestimating the acceleration advantage the 10 speed is going to have over the M6. Think 0.3-0.4 seconds in the 1/4 mile. The MY18 with the manual transmission is going to be a 12.5-12.6 car @ 115mph.
THe PP2 also has better suspension and tires. The 10spd will do 11.8. +.3-.4 is 12.1-12.4. The 6spd has its own changes this year too.

We're also forgetting that it seems like the 10 speed launches pretty soft. Lund was able to lift the front wheels on their stock MT-82 with just low profile rear slicks. with the MT-82, I don't think the difference will be quite as massive as we're thinking, as the MT-82 will be able to get off the line just as fast, if not faster, than the 10R80, therefore making for a closer 1/4 mile time. the main advantage to the auto is close, short gears and consistency, which is going to be a main advantage in road racing that I think will give the GT350 a slight edge as far as acceleration goes

The advantages the 10 speed gives the GT will only translate minimally to a racetrack. Very few tracks have more than a handful of gear changes per lap, and you are not often sustaining WOT for that long at any given time, main straights aside. Driving, grip and then power.

^^This man gets it

And on a track, low end/mid range power is almost as important as top end power for being able to push harder on corner exits, and that's where the 5.0 will have the advantage over the FPC 5.2

so To sum up these last few posts, the PP2 that comes out next year might be faster than a 3 year old car depending on the track, the driver, or the tires. Cool!

Precisely, but a car that still costs well over $50k to this day. Tires, track, and driver are a huge factor in any comparison. Same driver, same track, and stock tires on both though? PP2 will probably have the edge

And trust me, this isn't meant to slander GT350s in any way. The GT350 is still one of my all time favorite cars, and I still wish I could afford one. Rather, it's a testament to what ford is going with these 2018s... the GT350 is already so incredible, and for the PP2 to be able to even come close to is insane. Just goes to show how wild the GT500 will be (if they ever finish the damn thing)

Lmao true, I'm seriously pissed that Ford didn't put ANY coolers on the PP2 :frusty: then again, they didn't for the year 1 base GT350, either. You'd think they would've learned their lesson
