Hi

Has anyone heard if Ford Racing has any plans to sell a Flat Plane Crankshaft and cam kit for the 2015 V8 engine ??

It would most likely need a computer update as well.

I think that it would be an amazing upgrade that would totally change this engine!!

Thank you for your input.

This is like asking if 1995 5.0 headers will fit the 2015 5.0 mustang... No, there is no such thing.
Thank you, come again.

Hi Toowired

I think it would be easy for Ford to make this Flat plane crankshaft kit.

They already make it for the new GT 350.

They have the technology and the valve springs are stronger in this years engine already.

from http://blog.caranddriver.com/5-thin...he-2016-mustang-shelby-gt350s-flat-crank-v-8/

"The engine may have been birthed from the same architecture as the 435-hp Coyote 5.0 from the new Mustang GT, but nearly everything has been replaced. The new 5.2-liter engine has its own block casting, new crankshaft (duh), new pistons, new connecting rods, new heads, new cams, new intake, new oil pan, and a new harmonic balancer to smooth out the flat-plane’s inherently tricky vibrations. The only carry-overs from the Coyote 5.0 are hangers-on such as the alternator and starter and a few small components in the valvetrain. The 5.2 also utilizes plasma-transferred wire-arc cylinder coatings like the outgoing GT500."

This would not be a kit. This isn't something that just bolts in or replaces what you have. Let me tell you a secret, if you want your engine to rev higher, remove your crank and completely cut off the counterweights for each journal on the crank. Put the entire motor back together and immediately put it on the dyno. You can then marvel at the 475 HP your motor put down before it shakes itself to death.

It looks like steviescrazygarage.com may offer a flat plane crankshaft kit at some point but I am not sure if they can work out the engine shaking issue.

It would be cool to have a regular GT mustang be able to rev up like a Ferrari !!

Here is a YouTube video that explains the flat plane crankshaft in an interesting manner

Mark.K,
It would be pretty much nonsensical for someone to offer a FPC for the 5.0. Nearly everything about the engine is different. The crank, cams, rods, pistons, heads, exhaust headers and crank damper are all certainly different, not to mention nearly everything attached to it that needs to be tuned to the vibration profile of the engine vs. the cross plane. It would be much cheaper, easier and better to just get a 5.2L crate engine (if ever offered), or for the same price, just get a GT350.

Thanks Scott, I also found that and was wondering if anyone knows if it was tested on the 15 as well. 15900, wow...

FPC isn't needed to increase RPM's. Upgrade your valvesprings, rods/pistons, crank damper, and ignition trigger wheel, (plus improve breathing with an intake manifold), and the Coyote can rev over 8,000rpm pretty easily. Guys with Boss 302's are revving to 8,200rpm pretty regularly.

You can sleeve the block(Livernois, RGR, L&M, a few others offer this service) for 5.2 up to 5.4l displacement.
