Ingot Silver, PP, Premium GT.

I'll post pics a little later.

I think previous car ownership and age is important to any review for perspective.

I'm 41. First car for 4 years was an 1986 VW Golf. Loved it. Graduated to a 1991 GTI, 1986 944 Turbo (loved it - maintenance sucked for my 20s), 1977 911, 1973 Bronco, several Porsche 914s, Audi S4 can't remember year but maintenance sent this car packing quick (fast though), 2002 GTI 337 (first car bought new - pretty but slowish).

Current Family stable - 2012 Audi Q7 TDI (really cool but eats tires), 1992 GTI 16V (the good old days), 1986 Scirocco (cool but I'm over it), 1997 911 TT (love it but afraid it will break), 2010 F250 Diesel. (Yes - I told my wife I would sell the VWs if I got a Mustang, hopefully she will forget :gossip:)

The reason for the Mustang purchase is singularly to use as an HPDE car. I've always wanted to run at the tracks and before I get too old I'm going for it. The Mustang seems like a lot of HP for the money, warranty, more Euro design, and I have a good friends that works on cars with me that's a Ford tech.

Here is my quick review from a German car fanatic perspective. Also - as a critic I'll probably tend to point to negs and let you assume if I don't say something bad about it then it works for me.

Exterior...
Upon close inspection I can find flaws in the paint. It's really not a very good paint job compared to any German cars I've had. It's silver but laying paint with robots should be pretty easy to get right when you are doing it hundreds of times a day. Anyhow I bought the car. Styling is pretty, the car is wide and in your face without being too juvenile. Front end sits way too high. Tailights are awesome! Generally all the exterior is awesome. The Mustang light on the ground is done well but a little cheesy. I'm sure the strut tie bar works well but it doesn't have any flair to it. It sort of looks homemade. Again though, I understand keeping costs down is a concern so in the end I appreciate it.

Engine Bay...
The wiring connections look like I built the car in my basement with electrical tape. They didn't waste money on fancy connectors for sure. I guess you have to save money somewhere but certainly not too fancy.

Interior...
Door panels and center console feel super cheap. Fake stitching on dash looks cheap. I have the Recaros and love them although I feel like I sit a little low in the car but that could be due to me driving 911s and GTis where the car is not quite as laid back. I like the notchiness of the shifter. First gears seems useless with the 3.73 rear end. I wish the clutch had a little more slip to the engagement and came in a little taller in the stroke. I can drive it fine but I have to be cautious. Thankful for knobs to control stereo and HVAC.

Overall...
I don't like that every Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger looks me up and down and has the "I wanna race" look in their eyes. I'm too old for street racing and have too much to lose. Times are different and cops are everywhere. Yes - they tempt me - so it's a "me" problem. :) The car looks really nice and it's going to be a great track car as far as I can tell. Now if I can just remind myself on the track it's not front wheel drive and keep it on the black stuff I'll be alright. Thanks for reading.
