^^it is common practice for bad guy good guy roles at the dealerships. Sales manager tries his best to get a higher price, if he fails then good guy general manager will so call make it right.

In mn, if your car is bought in jan for example, registration renewal will be due in dec. so, if you close the deal on dec, you might get hit with it in Nov. Might not be a big deal, but here it could mean few hundred bucks.

The only way to get a firm price on trade is to let the dealer take the car... Otherwise, the dealer wouldn't want to estimate the value as auction values changes month to month.
