The best hope we have, IMO, of this car performing markedly better than the S197 in the quarter mile is for it to launch better and accelerate faster in 1st gear. A lower 0-60 time would tell me it does. If it still comes in around the same 0-60 as before, I'm betting the quarter mile time is...
Yeah, thanks:)
I was thinking mostly about 60 foot times:headbonk: but still, most of what I said holds true. Better 60 foot times and better 0-60 equals better quarter mile times. Also, looking at the Mustangs, Camaro's and Challengers, the most hp isn't always the fastest, the lowest gearing...
Yes, I said gearing can affect 0-60 times.
I never said anyone lets off at 60.
I agree, focusing on quarter mile times makes much more sense to me, however the quicker you get to 60, the quicker to get to a quarter mile. The out-going GT had a 4.4 0-60 time which is nothing great compared...
0 -60 times are important.
It's one of several factors affecting quarter mile times.
If I remember correctly, 1 tenth off 0-60 time equals 2 - 2.5 tenths in the quarter mile. Being it is similar power to weight ratio as the outgoing model, consider the 14 ran about 12.8 in the quarter. All...
I was kind of disappointed when I heard about the CMCVs returning after the 96-98 cobra performance, but then I read somewhere, I believe it was the Road and Track interview, that this is a totally different design.
The 96-98 system had a butterfly blade like on an old school carburetor so...
One point.
A tune will optimize the car as it is.
If you have it tuned in stock form and make modifications, it will need to be retuned to optimize those modifications.
So if you drive it a while, do some research and decide to want a CAI, LT headers and off road x-pipe, it would be cheaper to...
I think it will be faster. At these power levels, an IRS can perform just as well as a straight axles. Looking at the line lock videos, it doesn't look like there will be much problem with wheel hop so it should perform just as good. The real draw back is that it will be more costly to modify as...
That was my thought.
It's basically a Boss engine except it's 9 short on HP because it doesn't rev as high yet it makes more torque because of the intake.
They probably could have got the 9 HP with the Boss intake or possibly more but would have had to sacrifice torque.
A lot of things...
I think it will be an awesome car regardless of time, but if you are going to say it runs 11.2 stock, then at least 40% of drivers should be able to go to a track and run 11.2.
I don't see it happening.
Can't wait till they spend 70K, go to the track and get it handed to them by a...
Yeah, don't get me wrong, I love it.
I'm glad to see Dodge get in the game and I think this car will be iconic.
I just don't see it making 11.2 totally stock.
Personally, I don't think it's legit.
Every time Dodge comes out with a new or improved car they (or maybe it's just the fanboys) always grossly overestimate performance. I don't know why, but many dodge fans consider a car stock if the heads have not been removed. I think they have been...
I think with the supercharger and stronger upgraded parts in the engine, transmission and rear end, it will be over 4400 lbs.
40 more hp than a GT500 but 600 lbs heavier.
I can't really see it outperforming the Shelby.
Yes, I don't see 10's on stock tires. It's been my experience that dodge (or the fan boys) usually over hype the performance numbers before it is released.
The 8 speed could definitely help the numbers if it shifts quickly.
The weight might actually help 0-60 times if you can get that weight...
Yeah, I don't think it would be reliable at 1000HP.
I do find it mind boggling that a four cylinder might be reasonably capable of 700HP and best the stock Challenger Hellcats and GT 500's.
These are some very interesting times.
It's actually a 2.0 Ford Duratec engine, not a 1.0.
I thought they were fairly similar in stock form, however, I'm sure the 2.0 at 800 HP doesn't have stock internal or turbos, or much of anything stock other than possibly the block and head castings.
Personally, I am not going to be trying...
