I started with lowering springs on stock dampers because coilovers weren't quite ready. Looked nice, handled poorly with the additional hp. Get a decent to better set of coilovers and spend some time with a good suspension tuner. Ridetech did some R&D with mine for a week. Different car, always...
If you go NA you'll be adding headers, tune, intake, and likely cams in the future. This will kill you're drivetrain warranty. I like the Roush phase 2 but it doesn't come with a warranty. Also keep in mind that if you want to maintain some driveable balance with the extra power (600+) you'll...
Actually we went from which SC with a warranty, all of which will easily add 200+ whp to reclaiming driveline and atmospheric pressure losses of ~100 hp. Whipple, Roush, or Edelbrock will all accomplish this easily with a warranty. My earlier point was to research the cooling system with the...
Most power, TT. If you want to use a PD blower give it to someone like BoostWorks for something like a 4.2 KB. Whipple makes a great system, but I'm not going there if big power is my goal.
Something to consider, and I only say this because I'm not real familiar with the Edelbrock system other than it's similar capacity to the Roush. I would strongly research the cooling system associated with the Edelbrock. I can vouch for the Roush. I recently gave 90 minutes of joyrides to...
Not sure if that's the V6 part or not. I tossed the package so I'm not sure on the part number. It did need to be shortened by about a foot so it wasn't originally intended for the Roush box. Everything with the Bobs went in easy.
I wouldn't be surprised if that's where mine ends up. And for poor subby, If I had to make the decision again I would be in the same boat as you. I did not like the Roush 627 tune. Went into limp mode if pushed and idle quality could only be described as bad. The 670 was an improvement but still...
Lots of folks can install the Roush, and offer a warranty... for a lot less than 4k. Probably a little north of a thousand for the install and about the same for a warranty. Sounds like you're not to concerned with warranty so I would just go straight to phase 2 which is much improved in...
There is some great info here which I often use as reinforcement of ideas because some mod happy goof (like me) has probably tried it. If you're truly looking to create a project car the best place to start would be an active vendor or a company with a history of projects such as Beefcake...
Sounds familiar. Extra power and lowering springs without dampers = :eyebulge:
Can't stress quality shocks enough at this point. I would also make sure I talked to someone about spring rates for the front and rear. Spring rates for the rear should be a tad higher (against conventional wisdom)...
You could try Josh at Ridetech. I know of three satisfied customers, including me, and none of us have the same spring rates. One is at UPR and the other is apparently an autocross terror on the west coast. Let him know how "sporty" you want it and they can customize.
