I don’t know why you EB folks continue to react to these lame questions by GT owners. You shouldn’t have to justify what you like, period. I have a friend who bought a used EB M6 because it’s cheaper than a V8, and loves it for what it is and started to modify.
why did these folks buy a...
I’m a little surprised by this. I’ve found my (gen5 stg2 on a 17 GT) hits full boost (I have a mechanical boost gauge) as soon as I go deep into the throttle, and even my 305 drag radials spin on the street, at low rpm. Just as any PD sc should behave. I’ve also noticed on logs that the...
Does VE change at different rpm’s? I know there are other factors but I assume it’s at its max at max torque. The stock gen2 manifold is a very compromised at higher rpm…in boosting the low end for the “world market” they sapped some of the higher rpm potential from the Boss 302 bits they put...
There is absolutely zero doubt that there would be no V8 mustangs without the v6/ecoboosts, and would never have been. Unless they were specialty cars like the Ford GT and expensive.
in the past people who weren’t car people liked the look and rep of the Mustang but couldn’t afford the V8...
My bad. I didn’t mean to go off topic. I don’t have one but love the EB too…looks great also but has a different and still interesting flavor.
my point in bringing up the Bullitt was that, like the HPP, people doubted it was really any different than the GT power-wise. Like the HPP Ford...
I’m not sure. I think they do take the best run of a bunch, but they do all sorts of good things to standardize, like temp corrections, two-way average, etc.
Agreed, icing on the cake. But the icing is real, which some people have disputed.
btw that first 18 GT test got 115, but C&D tested the manual 18-23 GT three other times (PP1, vs Camaro SS, vs GT350) and got 114 each of those times.
You’re right that 480 vs 460hp is a small (4%) difference that probably gets lost in the noise of variability between tests. I love MW but they don’t standardize their tests or correct numbers for envtl conditions like temp/density altitude. C&D does, and they got a 115mph trap speed for the...
I wouldn’t get worked up about this. People said the same thing about the Bullitt being no stronger/faster than a GT despite a new IM, tune, etc. Ford is an OEM and has to be very, very conservative when upping the power of a production car so that warranty claims don’t sink the company and...
So does anyone worry about CHT (an inferred measurement, right?) when coolant temps are normal?
also, does anyone with a Whipple think the larger heat exchanger reduces the performance of the (engine) radiator?
I unfortunately have to drive my whippled 2017 30 miles to work and back several days a week, and in bad SoCal traffic when its hot out I notice the CHT creeps up, even to 220, while the coolant temp needle is in its usual place about centered or slightly towards the cool side. Which should I...
What’s the max acceleration g reading you’ve seen on your in-dash track apps? Just because everyone has one.
yes, I know, depends on max engine torque in the rpm range you ran, environmental factors, weight, driveline losses, gear you’re in, gear and diff ratio, wheel diam, and esp traction...
