There is no noticeable engine braking happening, if anything the car is accelerating. I can't tell if it's causing the car to accelerate or if it's just gravity though, sometimes it feels like it's in neutral.
The engine speed is not proportional to the vehicle/wheel speed, the revs go way up...
Thank you. I didn't realize it skip shifted, I haven't paid attention to the shift indicator while this is happening as I'm too busy worried about getting hit.
My old Audi S4 would shift from 1-2 at 3 mph and bog down unless you were literally at full throttle, which was really annoying and...
My driveway has a downward slope. Often when I start to go down my driveway without my foot on the throttle, the rpms go way up for a bit. It's a bit unnerving but I'm not sure it actually results in any acceleration but I always hit the brake. Is this just downshifting or something? I know...
I have a stock 2021 GT with auto trans, 20k miles. Ever since new, once in a while it goes flat for a second or two a bit after starting out. This seems to only happen when I have to pull out into traffic and in a hurry, and it's almost gotten me hit. I have not had this problem in Sport mode...
Thanks. I assume these cars are spec'd with more rear camber to reduce oversteer? I should get the car aligned more often anyway so maybe I'll just drive it as is until next time.
I have a 2021 GT, no performance package. My factory tires wore out on the inside really fast, apparently they don't always spend a lot of time on the alignment at the factory.
I have not been able to find the factory specs for a 2021 GT, previous posts say they are in the manual but that is...
I went ahead and got the Conti EC DWS yesterday and just put them on the stock wheel. My wife didn't want to spend the money for new wheels right now, we've had a lot of other unexpected expenses. But I went with 255 instead of 235. If they aren't grippy enough I'll get a wider set of wheels...
I went ahead and got a set of 255/45-18 Continental EC DWS yesterday and just put them on the stock wheels. They don't look like they are too much for that wheel. Anxious to see how it drives but I think I'll be happy with a little extra grip. If it isn't enough then I'll get another set of...
I went ahead and got the continentals yesterday. My wife expressed a concern for a smooth ride, but mainly because they were $250 cheaper. Anxious to see how they perform vs the stock Pirellis.
Thanks everyone. I was leaning towards the Continental as my wife does want a smooth ride, and what I thought was the quieter option as well until I saw the conflicting CR test. But she may now start taking our truck on the longer trips so those factors may not be as important. I was leaning...
I've essentially settled on getting the Conti EC DWS 06 Plus, but I noticed something interesting when looking at tests.
Tirerack
In 2021 the EC exceeded the PS in all categories. However, in 2023 there was another test of the EC where some of the numbers were the same as the PS. Of course...
There actually was a set near me but someone else got them before I could. But for the price I could have purchased a new set, and I really want a square setup.
Yeah the 245 sizes are really either too tall or too short. I'm actually surprised they went with an 8 with a 235 tire, they could have gotten away with a 7. Unfortunately yes it really needs at least a 9. Then we could do a 265/45; the Conti isn't available in that size but the Michelin is...
Sorry for another post but I just can't decide. My wife doesn't want to spend the money for new wheels now after all, she says she has learned not to hit the gas in corners. I also am concerned that 19" wheels might be too stiff for her, but there aren't many good options in 18". So for now...
I was actually just thinking about this on my morning dog walk. I moved from northern Utah to southern Utah so it's a little warmer than you though. My original plan was to track the car a little. But then I moved far away from any track, so I will probably never do that. So for just street...
Thanks, makes sense, I guess I'll go this route, better safe than sorry. I just got a new jack that should make changes easier; maybe now I can finally pretend I need an impact wrench!
I have been impressed with the wet/snow mode though what little I tried it. But it ought to be the first...
