Yeah. I think you're right. When I first got this car it was my first RWD car and first manual. I got lash a lot because I couldn't control the clutch well. Now I don't get it anymore. I get thud though.
Is the drive line the bit that goes from the transmission to the rear dif or a part between the engine and the transmission?
If it's the former, then I don't see how it's mass is relevant: we experience this with the clutch in and at a standstill. Wouldn't any drive line mass be dominated by...
I'm going to use the forum convention and say "tri-state area": NY, NJ, CT. I made a post in the regional section: http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?p=942138#post942138 . I'm reducing the number of people to just 5 because 10 appointments might be hard to schedule in one day at...
I'm organizing a Manual Transmission Thud Day in the Tri-State area.
We are going to find 4 more people to pick a day to demonstrate to a dealer the Thud issue (see http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11569 - over 800 replies). We agree to go if we get a total of 5 to agree on a...
Yeah, the same day would be good. I think though, that the same dealer on the same day (in different regions) would be helpful: dealers have gotten reports of this to some degree, but they might all be individually thinking that it is a "one off" issue since they each only see one example...
One thing that might help us is is several people went to the same dealer or went around the same time and made a cluster of reports.
Who would be down for scheduling an appointment on the same week at the same dealer if, say, we got 10 people to agree? I certainly would. If we get 9 other...
Personally, I'm still planning on bringing this up with my service station.
The issue, from my non-mechanic perspective, seems to be coming from the stored energy in the half of the transmission connected to the engine. If, at a stop, you shift to neutral and drop the clutch and rev to 4k RPM...
I love how mine sounds at all RPMs. I got compliments on it frequently.
I don't think that video used a good enough mic. Exhausts are hard to record because of their large frequency range.
I'd recommend listening to one live. Are you near CT?
What? We should wait 1s between shifts to make then smooth? Other cars don't require this. I'm getting fast at shifting now, and I don't want to slow down!
"5-10%" - That is not my experience. Watching the vacuum gauge, it looks more like 60% travel or more. Yes, it does go WOT before the pedal hits the floor now (without the knob installed), but it's not 5-10%. That would make the car nearly impossible to drive anywhere but a drag strip.
I've noticed that it almost never (never?) happens when I push the stick in slowly and allow the synchros to merge the gears.
Does anyone else notice that? I wonder if double clutching would be a workaround.
