I agree 100%. I just think the easiest, most pragmatic approach would be to fix the actual issue and not replace a good engine; devalue the car.
EDIT to add: if the engine was damaged due to low oil, that's obviously a diff situation.
I've suspected valve seals for awhile. which, in the grand scheme of things, is such a small issue. Even with good seals a certain amount of oil loss is still acceptable. Id rather have one that uses some, than none!
From everyone I’ve talked to and my own observations during the install of the Kooks, Kooks are the easiest to install. Also I was impressed with quality.
quote depends on what you’re wanting. With tuning, headers and install Kooks said 3400.
As far as inspection goes, it’s not required by my...
So I finally installed the Kooks catless headers and X pipe on the R. With the tune there is a noticeable difference in throttle response and power. Also a noticeable difference in sound lol. valves open at idle it sounds like a traditional V8. Once you're not he throttle it sounds very exotic...
If you follow, the question is, should the motor really be replaced... valve seals are straightforward to fix and wouldn’t hurt to do on your own dime. Just bc your losing oil doesn’t mean you need a replacement engine lol. It also doesn’t mean “blown engine”.
But to answer your question, I’d...
Dude I was thinking this same thing lol.
For what it’s worth I built a hi perf GM engine (427) years ago and chose to go with non-traditional, non umbrella type Teflon valve stem seals. They were designed to “leak” a certain amount to ensure proper lube on the stems. As a result, i used quite...
Front bumper and rear impact area are the trouble spots. BTW rear impact area is the spot in front of rear wheels up to the body line. I used XPel and can't even tell its there most of the time. awesome stuff.
Just read through this thread. I’m interested in a smal light weight batter with a nice mount. I don’t daily drive my car so it sits 1-3 weeks at a time.
You sound like me lol. I'm not currently using anti seize on my lugs by I have in the past on other cars. I'd prob just come down to 125-130. 150 seems excessive even when dry.
in the wild (non-coordinated event), I've seen two, non-R 350's. I've never seen another R period. I know of one within driving distance of me but haven't had the chance to meet up yet.
