Annoying question..... did the 50th anniv pkg have two plain black front mats and no rear mats? No rear mats? No logo? Anyone know what is aactually supposed to be includes or is mine correct. Just don't know. :headbonk:
Your mod plans are pretty mainstream. I guess if you are reading this thread you also know there are other more cost-effective options such as the OP's, the resonator-deletes (Y-pipe) with a pair of freer flowing mufflers, etc. IMHO most of the more popular exhaust mods, cat/axle-back kits...
My Magnetic turbo-stang has the 50-yr pkg, so my mods are modest: Magnaflows, Ford Racing badges and a "turbocharged" badge on decklid. The Magnetic metallic works really well with the nickel wheels/chrome trim (especially when all polished to a nice shine!). :D
Things have CHANGED!
The old automatics were not very good and definitely not sporty, hence the overwhelming preference for staying only with manual transmissions for "real" drivers. Nowadays most of the "supercars" are using high-grade automatics, not fragile manuals. For our Mustangs, the...
I've gotten used to my improved deep turbo growl, especially when on the throttle...... it just sounds "right" for a strong Mustang turbo engine. Still really like the sound of the GT350 though...... oh well, can't have everything. ;)
Been listening to this stuff for months..... just not easy to hear sound differences with internet files. One thing for sure, the Coyote (and GT350) guys love to really hear that engine purring, and I don't blame them at all...it's all about raw power for them. For me, as well as many turbo...
Can't really speak to the resonator's role in restricting the flow (the stock mufflers are probably more at fault); however, the bluing on the back of the resonator indicates pretty darn high temps are concentrated there.
Why keep the resonator? It's overly restrictive and build up a lot of heat. When I had it removed and replaced with a Y-pipe (plus a pair of Magnaflow mufflers) the sound at idle/hwy cruise was similar to stock; however, any throttle input developed a nice deep growl. With heavier or WOT it...
I had been researching for several months now for an "improved" exhaust sound. I too prefer not to have a Mustang that sounds like a typical over-muffled 4 cyl 4-dr sedan. I liked the Mishimoto prototype, the Magnaflow Street and the MAP (and some others) for bringing a deeper tone and overall...
Agreed. IMHO Ford marketing people are not primarily Mustang people. They put a higher priority on pushing the economical ecoboost engines across multiple platforms. The choice to play the 6 down so much was poorly done (an insult to a fine motor). To not properly tune the 2.3T (the most...
I'm definitely interested.... weekdays or weekend, sooner or later, 3 participants or 13...no matter. Since I'm retired, a couple of weekdays is easiest and probably less traffic.
Yes... I didn't want it to be too loud, just a much deeper and stronger turbo engine sound (especially at WOT) so it doesn't sound like a Camry. (Turbos tend to muffle engine exhaust sound anyway). The larger displacement NA engines do a much better job with robust exhaust/engine sounds.....so...
Ford is supposed to have an optimized tune available soon (promised for 4th qtr). If so, then maybe worth waiting for, otherwise I'll be going with a COBB AP and a customized tune from Tune+ (Adam at MAP). This tune yields about 400 ft/lb of torque @3000 RPM and a smoother curve to redline...
Sorry......I shot several video clips, but for some reason they won't upload. Maybe the quicktime or mp4 format is incompatible? I'll reshoot some stills and post them soonest.
Been talking about modding my exhaust for awhile now.... well I finally made a decision and went with it. After looking at all the options (catbacks axlebacks, resonator-deletes, etc, I decided to go with a custom job at a local muffler shop (CJ Mufflers in Arlington). I requested a Y-pipe to...
"so i'm looking at the Mustang GTPP. bigger back seats!"
That's not a comment one hears every day. I agree about the performance of the BMWs, but I still am not happy with their high prices/unreliability/cost of repairs.
Agree. The Europeans love the up-market marketing (better profit margins) for their sport coupes and anything that is not an ecobox. Somewhat smaller cars in European cities also makes sense (tighter/narrower roads). Smaller, more efficient engines (like DI turbos) deliver the power without...
