  1. Upper Rear Shock Mounts - Broke 'em both

The mounts were installed correctly. I'm no engineer, but at this point it seems like a combination of the stiffer valving on the Viking shocks and the probably less than optimally engineered top of the mount are what contributed to the failure. I really don't think the shock could have...
  2. Upper Rear Shock Mounts - Broke 'em both

Here's a couple pictures. I don't have the replacement part but it appears that the thin center section on top of the mount blew out. The rubber bushing/isolator that you see on the shock rod normally sits in the center of the mount. Both sides look exactly the same (i.e. failed the same...

  4. Upper Rear Shock Mounts - Broke 'em both

The Vikings don't come with bump rubbers and they say they are not necessary. The other thing that happened is the wheel well liners were ripped out, so maybe it did bottom. But even still there is so much travel available in the shocks that I can't see them bottoming out.
  5. Upper Rear Shock Mounts - Broke 'em both

I'll take some pics in the next few days Kelly when I get it apart. You guys were one of the possibilities I thought of for making a part. I'm happy to be a Guinea pig if you want to give it a shot.
  6. Upper Rear Shock Mounts - Broke 'em both

The whole round center part that you can see in your second picture broke out. The rest of the mounts are still bolted to the car and don't look like they fractured. I haven't had a really good hard look at all the other components yet. At first inspection, the other stuff looked OK, so I...
  7. Upper Rear Shock Mounts - Broke 'em both

I'm pretty certain the shock mounts did not break prior to going off the track, but the thought did cross my mind. I actually have a number of suspension mods but I also don't think they contributed. My rear suspension mods are: Steeda springs and sway bars, Steeda billet vertical link...
  8. Upper Rear Shock Mounts - Broke 'em both

I had an unplanned but really exciting agricultural side trip at Road America yesterday (exiting the Carousel, for those of you familiar). I broke the center out of both of my upper rear shock mounts and there are none available anywhere in the country that I can find yet. Someone in MI has 12...
  9. MVP Track Day at Road America July 10-12

I'll be there on Friday. Chime in if you're going.
  10. A few pics from Road America

I'm headed there Thursday for a performance driving school with my S550. Similar engine mods to yours, minus the headers (next mod I'm making along with a dyno tune). I have Steeda springs, sway bars, vertical links, bushings and the bottom frame brace (whatever they call that) and just added...
  11. V1 Radar Detector hard wire install

Just an update on this. I got it installed this morning. My green lead did have a short. The pin pulled right out of the end of the lead with no resistance. So I made my own lead using the spare phone cord that came with the V1. I pulled the dome light housing and spiced into the mirror...
  12. V1 Radar Detector hard wire install

I'll fiddle with it some more. The mirror in the video doesn't look anything like mine. I tried a number of times to get the pins in where the printed instructions show and haven't had any luck.
  13. V1 Radar Detector hard wire install

Thanks. I'll try moving it to the right side of the mirror. One of the problems with the lead, which I discovered this morning, is that there is a short on the green wire where the pins is. I'll probably just end up making my own lead and trying to wire it into the interior light box, or...
  14. V1 Radar Detector hard wire install

I got the Anchor Room setup today and didn't have much luck. The mirror tap plugs just fall out of the mirror and won't stay in - not even close. And the mount hangs down pretty far from the mirror, pretty much right in your face in the center of the windshield. I need to find a better solution.
  15. Sock's Project 6G

    Ordered one!
  16. Recaro Seat Comfort

They are super comfortable. I have not done a big road trip but I would not hesitate. At first I had a bit of remorse for not getting the heated/AC seats, but the Recaros are so comfortable that I don't care.
  17. Milwaukee Peeps

Didn't get a PM if you sent one
  18. Milwaukee Peeps

Thanks. I talked to them yesterday and seems like a good outfit. I may have them do my headers and dyno tune.
  19. Milwaukee Peeps

Nothing super important but not supporting Macs in 2015 seems a little ridiculous to me. I had to drive to someone with a PC, update and load the tune, then drive back to the PC to load the data from the car then back to actually load the tune. Then the tune wasn't right, so I had to load...
  20. Milwaukee Peeps

When I put headers on (likely ARH) I will probably switch to a Livernois tune or perhaps a dyno tune. Anyone have experience with Late Model Throttle in Waukesha?
