Austinj427,
No, I haven't tried manual shiting a 1/4 mile pass. Full manual control is only available when the shifter is in Sport. Sport mode is intended for track use and cuts the spark before every shift. I'll get the PCM updated before I go back to the drag strip. Maybe that will cure...
Just to put this question to rest. My 2018 GT's ECM has all the "inferred octane modifier" limits set to zero. So, the base inferred octane won't move from the 91 octane starting value.
Cheers,
It looks like the trans over rev is not a flare. I think it’s the equivalent of a manual trans money shift. You know after topping out second the driver jams it into first and pops the clutch. That’s how you let the money out of a manual trans. The leading driver did it at NASCAR’s Sonoma...
The launch occurred at the verticle white line. The shifter was in drive, Advancetrac off, and in drag mode.
I don’t know why the car reved that high on this run. Normally it shifts around 7250. I guess the transmission flared and the input shaft spun up too fast. What sucks is the ETC cut...
I see what happened. My 2018 GT ECM uses OS version FSJJ4DZ. That OS has a “Transmission Protection” RPM limit set to 7400 RPM. The TIS hit 7456 RPM before the 2-3 shift and the ETC closed the throttle. I guess that’s why the 2018 GTs have the tachometer red line starting at 7400 RPM.
Cheers,
Yep. My MPH was down about 2 MPH. The DA was between 1300&1600; so, I thought the MPH loss was caused by my failed 100 octane test.
Maybe it’s all the wild fire smoke we’ve got here in NorCal right now.?
Cheers,
I think you’re right. The spark held steady at 22 degrees after it hit WOT. When the car hit second while I was pedaling the launch; I held the pedal position until the tires stopped spinning. I floored it for the rest of the pass when I felt the tires grab.
It’s a PP1 car and the car is in...
I managed to trigger a “trans limit” condition. I didn’t feel it during the run; but, the data log shows it. The trans-limit caused throttle body to close at the 2-3 shift. It’s frustrating; cause I managed to get a decent launch.
Anyone know what I could have done to hit the trans-limit...
My 2018 GT did not adapt to high octane fuel.
I ran Sunoco 100 at the local TNT last night. The DTE was 23 miles and I pumped in 8 gallons of 100 octane and the needle rose to just over 1/2 tank. The ECM’s inferred octane stayed at 91 and the WOT spark hovered around 22 degrees. The ETs were...
I know this thread has been hijacked to an almost evangelical level of FUD. But, I wanted to post my drag mode data log in case someone made it through all that...
2018 drag mode with Advancetrac off does not pull timing. The yellow line in the bottom box is my throttle position. All the...
I use a 12-quart open top drain pan. But, on my second oil change I didn’t completely remove the yellow plastic plug until the oil pan was almost empty. The oil drained almost straight down. 90 degrees to the bottom of the pan. I didn’t need to; but, it would have been easy to push the...
The Baer weigh less; but, the Steeda’s rotor to hat mounts are better. Compare the Steeda’s to the Maclaren 720s hat hardware.
If you get the Steeda’s; be sure to index the rotor vanes properly. Don’t index the slots...
Cheers,
Sorry, none of that will work. It takes too much time to select drag mode and then disable Advancetrac during a 1/4 mile drag.
This worked for me before I locked out the cradle:
1) shifter in drive, select drag mode, and disable Advancetrac.
2) stall the the converter to 1800 rpm and release...

I finally got my data logger. So, at tomorrow night’s TNT; I will have proof that drag mode doesn’t pull timing. I already have logs showing A10 shifter in S does cut power before each shift. See the waves above.
I also now know the ECU correctly infers the 91 octane California calls...
I’m spinning up on the latest Ford ECU strategies and maps. I laughed when I saw the GT350 throttle map is plotted out to 92 degrees. The Mustang’s throttle map stops at 89 degrees.
So, the GT350’s throttle goes to 11 !
Cheers,
I thought the Voodoo and Coyote blocks use the same engine and trans bolt patterns.
What is preventing someone from bolting a TR3160 onto a 2018 Coyote block?
Thanks,
Pretty much everything; but, the lights, engine and transmission are upgraded on the PP1 cars.
If you’re only boulevard cruising; just add a set of light weight wheels and performance tires. Search for P51 wheels.
Cheers,
