Well I guess this is the first real issue I've had with the car. I noticed starting Saturday when I start moving from a stop, there is a metallic pop sound coming from the rear. It can be easily duplicated when going in first moving forward, then going to reverse and moving backwards, it pops...
Something I've been thinking about these days is the long-term durability of active exhaust systems that now come factory on cars. For years, you'll hear from pretty much any long term owner of an aftermarket cutout that they either leak, or the motor failed. I suspect this commonly comes down...
LC starts at 3000RPM minimum which I think is too much for a launch on anything other than slicks at full throttle. I've had the best luck so far with 2000-2500 rpm launches with a tiny bit of clutch ride in the beginning.
I've often heard headers need a custom tune to both reap the benefit and not throw codes. With the Power Packs being tuned only for calibration and intakes, I doubt they'd be to cooperative with headers.
I prep for winter by putting on the Nokians and factory wheels, making sure I have a good fresh layer of protection (top up of CarPro Reload lately), switching to the Weathertech floor mats, and now capping off the cutouts. Run it sun, rain or snow.
Makes perfect sense. I guess it's just all the extra power! Lol. In seriousness, either I became a seriously better driver, or the PP1 just dropped my 1/4 mile by 0.4s tonight....and I checked, DA is just as crappy as ever here. Pretty sure the torque management/clutch protection is lower, or...
Here's a question about the Power Packs...maybe someone can chime in. Does anyone know if the "special" Advanced Trac that came with the Performance Pack GT's is now on my non-PP GT? I wonder how many parameters they changed, as I understand it a GT Manual PP1/PP2/PP3 tune is the same between PP...
The '15+ 5.0 shares a lot of parts (similar/same) as the 5g Boss 302, which I believe revved to 7500.
As others have stated, Ford wouldn't offer continued warranty if there was an issue with 7500rpm.
I'm thinking it might as well. I've been noticing more wheel slip where there was originally none, and I can't attribute that to just 40ft/lbs or more aggressive throttle response.
I asked this question direct to Ford Performance last year, and they also confirmed that installation through a dealer or ASE tech will not affect your powertrain warranty, and the 36 months are applicable to the new parts they install.
Well to continue on the list, I wish these features were available on the S550:
-Heads Up Display
-Targa or T-Roof (even though I'm sure it doesn't suit our body style)
-Premium interior option that features better build quality and no creaks/rattles. I'd pay extra for that lol.
-A good...
Compound that with the fact the Mustang (at least when equipped with a V6) was barely over 20K. It was a great performer for that price, heck you can't even get a V6 Accord for that much.
When you build on something that is inexpensive to start with, the problems will be exacerbated by the...
Good to know.
A) I want to be sure it's done right
B) I don't want to give them any reason to charge more because it "took longer".
It goes in tomorrow :)
All boots (suspension and tie rods) are clean.
Oil filter/cooler, isn't that on the driver's side? I haven't done the oil changes myself yet haha.
The only way I could see the amount of oil on the passenger side is if it somehow dripped onto the splash shield and over to the passenger side...
Ah, I bought from Levittown since the only dealer who gave me a price here was 200 bucks more than Levittown. So I've got the box in my trunk, just need to book an appointment...
For the guys who had it installed at the dealer, did you need to enter the info on the Ford Performance site, or did you just hand the box over and let the dealer take care of everything? I'll be bringing mine in soon (PP1).
