My guess would have been something to do with the height sensors on magnaride equipped mustangs, but they use different struts all together. Possibly something to hold the brake hose bracket with on different applications.

almost sounds like a loose spark plug, but that would also have to compression bleed past the coil boot as well and would be easily noticible with your hand by it.
