I had this exact issue. It's likely the Cam Exhaust side solenoid sticking. I had issues that I proved under warranty and it all went away after they replaced the cam phaser solenoids on the exhaust side.

Yup. Slightest wiggle and it would slip out. That's why I just moved to the bendable long silicone pad. It's like 2 feet long and 1 foot wide and stays in the form you mold it to. Great stuff so far.

It has to do with a sticky Solenoid on the exhaust side of the Cam banks. I had it repaired on my 5.0. Just take it in and replicate it for the techs. Hold gas at about 2.2K rpms and let off. Should let you replicate the rattle. Then have them unplug the solenoid and it will disappear.

Have them test your passenger side VVT exhaust solenoid. Rev the motor to 2k and then let off. You'll be able to replicate the sound for the service team. They'll have to do a full replacement. But that solved the issue for me and the car drives like a dream now.
