Bigdrumma22, just a thought... I run the JL C5 systyem, 2-way. The JL C5 3-way adds a mid but uses the same woofer and tweeter. If the Focal system does the same you may be able to go 2-way with the same set and either get the 2-way xover or go active.
Bigdrumma22, a question on your Focal 3-ways. If you have the base 6 speaker system you will have to get creative to install the mids. What is your plan there?
I just picked her up this afternoon. Strange getting in and driving home without the A pillar covers little lone the tunes. I know what I am doing this weekend...
Arrrggh! My 2016 had to go to the dealer for warranty AC work. They had it in the shop for 3 days before it could be even diagnosed. Turns out it is a bad condenser. This requires the removal of the dash. The dealer would not touch the car without me first removing my aftermarket stereo wiring...
I am in the same boat as far as time and mileage, 18 month, 4,400 miles. Mostly just a weekender for me and some road trips coming up. But when you are used to better sound I just found it really difficult to listen to. I only have the base 6 speaker system and decided to up the quality but...
armykyle1, I ran new wires from the amp in the trunk to the tweeters. For the mids I used the harness adapter from OEM on here to access the wires for the doors. I wanted to run new wires there as well but for what I expected to be minimal gain for maximum effort, I did not.
I just installed the JL c5 2 ways in mine and am running them active with the xd700/5 amp. I am very pleased with the results. I would expect the 3 ways to be stellar run active. Good luck either way!
Wow! I was not familiar with the Mosconi, Morel or Helix brands. After browsing at the products with their prospective MSRPs.... I am more biased towards my 401K! I would sure love to hear it though!!!
Nemesis, my build consists of JL components up front with a single 10w3 run off of a JL 700/5. I can electronically xover the fronts. I run high level off of the front stage L&R pulled from behind the radio. It is very solid. I would start with a basic install like mine and decide later if a...
I am looking at midrange speakers from parts express to install in a base model 6 speaker system. JL silk tweeters are installed in the A pillars. I will be using the electronic xover in my amp and will band pass the mids around 70 to 4k Hz. I am looking at this two...
Interesting to see a under the seat option as our space is so limited there. I have a like setup in my daily with JL 6.5s sealed and love it. Not crazy bass but very solid. Tactile. Curious if it would fit under the drivers as well for a non powered seat.
I would also say that it depends on what system you have on how you treat the 6.5. For me, I have the base 6 speaker, no external amp system so it is a critical component. The duties performed certainly differ when you have the 9 speaker system.
I would expect what they lack in low end they make up in efficiency. That being said you may have to cross your subs over higher than typical or risk losing the freqs in the 80-120 range. I believe that hole would be very audible. Any crossover above 80Hz for a sub, especially a larger driver...
