For a sanctioned 2-3 day weekend event with NASA, SCCA, BMW Club, or PCA, that's what you can expect as far as cost. But that means the organization rents out the whole track for the weekend and you have dedicated and experienced instructors. With NASA, you also get $1 million of medical...
As to insurance, I think it depends what level of risk you are willing to accept:
What kind of events are you driving in? An organization with a good safety record (another good question to ask: How many incidents has the organization had in their HPDE program?), or open lapping days? Or are...
Eran,
Welcome to the family!
The best money you can spend as a novice driver is on coaching. The GT350 is one of the few productioncars that you can buy that can be tracked without initial modifications.
National Auto Sport Association (NASA) has a chapter in the northeast and in Ohio that runs...
You may have heard this before, but ask for a pre-purchase inspection to be done at your cost as a condition of sale, regardless if you buy your GT350 from a dealer or a private party. Try to find an auto performance or racing shop that has experience working on Mustangs in general and GT350's...
Ask the seller if he or she is willing to do a pre-purchase inspection at your cost, preferably at a high-performance auto shop, worst-case scenario at a dealership. I would never buy a used car from anyone, private party or dealership, without one.
With any used car, suggest you get a pre-purchase inspection at your cost, preferably by a shop that deals with high-performance cars in general, and if you're lucky, with GT350's in particular. If they say no, regardless if it's private party or dealership, walk away.
There is a raffle for a new 2019 Ford-Performance-Blue GT350R. Drawing is August 31, 2019.

I'm looking at getting some scrubs for the upcoming track season. Another GT350 driver in my region has successfully used 305/690/19 tires, but apparently they are no longer available. Ferrari Challenge is now using 315/705/19 slicks. Rear fitment should be OK, but not sure about the front...
Second you won't feel the difference on the street. And also consider while unsprung weight makes a difference between the regular GT350 and the R, or between the stock alloys and upgraded alloys, the biggest difference is the the Sport Cup tires. Think about upgrading tires first as a...
I'm planning on running in NASA time trials this season, though I doubt I'll be competitive against the lighter aero'ed/race slicked Corvettes in my NASA TT2 region. I started in HPDE with an Audi RS4, gravitated to a track-prepped E46 M3, and then a NASA Spec Z race car, which I found was too...
If you are focused on finding a good example and saving money, I would not buy from a dealer. I suggest you use autotempest/craigslist aggregator to find a private party car and require a pre-purchase inspection at your cost. You should be able to find some good deals.
Reasoning behind the purchase? What is your goal re: oil temps? I'd be interested in this if there is a significant cooling advantage...I see 280-285 temps which FP says is normal, but this would be worth it if we are talking 20 degrees or more drop in temps...
You should know that the GT350 and the GT500 will be very different cars. If you want to track your car out of the box with minimal modification, the GT350 is your best bet. The GT500 will be heavier with a different driving dynamic, much more expensive, and will go through consumables...
