  1. GT MPG

Here's my take on it. If you're near any major population areas in California, you're going to be idling in traffic much more than most other places in the country. That by itself is going to kill your "average" mpg numbers. I can take my 2016 GT on a road trip and easily get the displayed...
  2. Mach 1 Road Trip Review (1400+ miles in 3 days)

Congratulation! The car looks great. I've wondered about the auto high beams. I've never seen those on any car that I've been impressed with but I had hoped modern technology would do better. I'd be disappointed if Ford didn't give the option to turn them off or maybe you just need to adjust...
  3. Are some dealers really this stupid?

    Obviously they are!
  4. Official S550 Mustang Owners Registry

Very good looking car! I've always liked Mustang's in blue. It was my first color choice if I had bought new but I found a good deal on a used 2016 with all the options I wanted, something I had yet to find on a dealers lot, so I picked it up. It's been a great car after 40k miles so I'm...
  5. Help me in choosing my next mustang, gt or ecoboost?

I'm betting that if you're close enough for the volcano eruptions to be a serious problem, even a GT is not going to be fast enough!
  6. 10 Speed Auto or 6 Speed Manual, what say you?

Well, I was just a teenager at the time. I remember watching him do the work and handing him tools as needed but I don't remember him having any particular problems with it. He had a good friend and the two of them really enjoyed the old British sports cars. They were well practiced in...
  7. 10 Speed Auto or 6 Speed Manual, what say you?

I think one of the biggest, and most costly mistakes that many newbe's make with a manual transmission is riding the clutch. They tend to hold their foot over the clutch peddle in anticipation of the next shift, not realizing that after a while, their foot starts riding on the clutch pedal...
  8. 10 Speed Auto or 6 Speed Manual, what say you?

My feelings exactly. I live in the Houston area. I know about rush hour traffic headaches and the manual tranny really wasn't a big deal for me. Oh, I don't know, I never thought of the "in modern days" comment as a prejudicial comment against manual transmissions. I took it was more as an...
  9. 10 Speed Auto or 6 Speed Manual, what say you?

I had read some favorable opinions on the oils and was wanting to change the tranny and final drive oils on my car anyway so I thought I'd give them a try. I noticed an improvement in shift smoothness almost right away. It was quieter, less likely to offer up that synchro crunch that we hear...
  10. 10 Speed Auto or 6 Speed Manual, what say you?

I'd have to agree with this with the possible exception of the "perfectly fine 100% of the time" part. I'm not sure that's absolutely true but it's still Ok. Like you, I haven't had any significant issues with the MT82 in my 2016 GT. If there have been some sloppy shifts it's been entirely my...
  11. 10 Speed Auto or 6 Speed Manual, what say you?

I was just responding to what Norm had said. My impression is that his experience with the A10 are somewhat different from yours. I've seen a few negative comments about the A10 since it's release. Those are the exceptions rather than the rule though but not everyone's experience with the 10...
  12. 10 Speed Auto or 6 Speed Manual, what say you?

I tend to agree but that's not how it works out most of the time by my experience. The one auto equipped car that I've had that I was 99% happy with was a 1994 T-Bird with the 4.6L SOHC V8 and 4-speed overdrive automatic. That engine tranny combo just seemed like it was plugged into my head as...
  13. 10 Speed Auto or 6 Speed Manual, what say you?

The problem is the governmental mandate to maximize fuel economy. Most automatics I've owned in the past 20 years made a maximum effort to get into the highest gear possible as fast as possible just to save 0.1% of a mpg. I've got a car right now with a 6 speed auto that short shifts all the...
  14. 10 Speed Auto or 6 Speed Manual, what say you?

Manual transmissions are relatively simple, mechanically. That means they have less to go wrong. Their metallurgy has improved since the earliest versions and there are a few more gear ratios but the designs are still basically the same. They're proven. Automatics, by their nature are much...
  15. 10 Speed Auto or 6 Speed Manual, what say you?

All depends on how you drive it. I had a 2006 Civic that I put 200k miles on before replacing the clutch and the mechanic said it probably had another 10k left in it. Then again, probably 70% of the miles on that Civic were highway miles so the clutch had it pretty easy. As for the Mustang...
  16. 10 Speed Auto or 6 Speed Manual, what say you?

For me, the allure of a manual transmission is developing the skills to operate it smoothly and confidently. There's a lot of satisfaction in knowing your car performs well because the "driver" has the skills to make it perform that way. For many, there's not much satisfaction is slapping it...
  17. Help me in choosing my next mustang, gt or ecoboost?

Thanks for the reply. My car is a 2016 GT so obviously I don't have the active exhaust. The Steeda H pipe would be my selection as well. I've gotten a lot of feedback like yours but I've also had some say that they thought it was pretty loud, or louder than they expected it to be. It's...
  18. Help me in choosing my next mustang, gt or ecoboost?

Understood. Sound tube is fully intact on mine too but my hearing obviously isn't as good as yours. I have, from time to time, thought I might want mine a little louder and have considered doing a resonator delete (H pipe) with the stock mufflers but I've gotten conflicting opinions about how...
  19. Help me in choosing my next mustang, gt or ecoboost?

News to me! I've got a box stock 2016 GT, exhaust wise, and I've had it on a couple of multi-day road trips. Cruising down the freeway 70-75 or so, I'm not aware of the exhaust sound at all. Step down on it while passing someone and it sings quite nicely but is more than subdued otherwise.
