The same day I took my car in for the uncooled seats I also had them look into this issue. Computer showed no faults and of course it wouldn't occur while I was there. I even showed them video of it. They had no ideas. Of course the very next day it happens again.
Mine does the same thing...
If they tell you that the backs aren't supposed to cool, show them this picture. I wasn't even hitting the peltier element so the temp could actually be even cooler. I couldn't straighten the rubber tube and take the picture at the same time. My garage was about 85 degrees and I let it run for...
It wasn't as hot today leaving work but I will say that with the mod, I am much more satisfied with the seat. The temp was in the high 80's today. I can feel it start cooling the same time as the cushion and I can feel it staying cool the entire 40 minute drive home. Driving home it seems to be...
No worries, but just to be clear. At least from what I have read mine was one of the ones that has the seat warming issue. I measured 110 degrees at the rubber duct inside the seat at one point. This thread has gotten really long in the last week but from what I have seen there has only been two...
I don't think I said that mine were cool at the start. I only started doing my own investigation because all I felt was heat. The only time I said they worked was when I bought the car and it was 40 degrees outside.
The exhaust heat in the back of the seat was greatly reduced with my mod...
I just used what I could find around the house. If I was actually designing it I would make the tube the same shape as the rubber outlet tube. It needs to be hard plastic though so it doesn't get pinched in the flap.
Keep in mind if you decide to try it, you can only get one hand up the back...
The hardest part was the reinstall. Mainly getting the two hooks on the left side and making sure the tie wrap was correct around the rubber duct. It still didn't take more than five minutes though.
I channeled my inner MacGyver... cardboard + duct tape + shop vac hose = fixed.
Took it for an almost two hour test drive and it works so much better! The seat stayed cool the entire time and I never felt the heat. I even tested with the AC off and it still stays cool. I could actually feel...
If there was still some doubt by some folks that the seat backs are not suppose to cool as good as the cushion hopefully this will clear it up.
I removed the unit today and can confirm that the only issue that we have is a poor design. The air coming out of the rubber duct is cooled and...
If I wouldn't have pushed them to look further they would have simply scanned for code errors and said they couldn't find an issue. Once he felt the heat that I was talking about he discussed how on some other cars there is actual duct work to get cabin air to the fan. He suggested trying to...
I think the reason you feel more heat after turning it off is because there is still too much heat that has to go somewhere. The fan is no longer pushing it. I do feel it get warmer when off but never feel the seat back get cool to the touch.
I don't have any doubt that it is supposed to cool...
Deysha has assigned me a case number. I received a call this morning to discuss it but I was at work. I returned the call but got voicemail so I have yet to talk to anyone about it.
While it was on my mind I started to do a little more searching and found this facebook post by Ford that...
This is what I was going to ask. I have found some wheel cleaners that seem to never dry. Take off for work the next day and didn't realize it was slinging crap all over the sides.
