Lol figured I'd get that kind of response, Yolo brah.
Anyways in the case of 5.0onBoard you just need to figure out how loud is "too loud" for you. We should probably figure out some way to measure decibel levels for reference going forward.
That sounds like horrible advice lol. But as others have mention it depends on how loud you want it. Coyotev8 put it best when he described them as loud, louder, loudest. There is nothing quiet about any of these.
I was in the same predicament. This is my first v8 but I've had catless g35 coupe and the wife hated riding in it. While that was loud it sounds tame as hell compared to this. This is my personal DD but the Explorer is the family car so luckily I don't have to worry about the wife complaining...
I personally compared the roush + x pipe and it sounded nice but definitely had some rasp and got a bit tinny (IMHO). The solo mufflers are interchangeable but are also a bit pricy, I was quoted something around the ~$350 range
Also keep in mind that 1/10 is NOT the stock exhaust. At WOT I'd say the stock exhaust is -5/10 lol. The mach xv is LOUD lol the thunder is just that much louder. However both appear easy to modulate. It can sound close to stock while cruising one second and drop the gear and raise hell the next.
Update on paint crack.
After dropping it off on Tuesday I get a call today saying that it's ready for pick up. Picked it up earlier today and it looks like a solid job. I spent a good 15 minutes leaning over the car in every angle imaginable and it appears to be rectified.
I did notice some...
Right on the money boomer!
Regarding "play" no more than the normal play that I got with the steeda spring on. I still have a few millimeters of dead zone, which is normal, at the very top but that's because I was under there moving it with my hands.
VeloLisa
The spring is not heavy in the slightest.
My wife is 5"3 120 lbs and probably the weakest human alive (her words lol) and she prefers the car without a spring. I don't understand where some people are getting this "heavy spring" description. Even without the spring it's just as light...
I've been running the xv for a little under 150 glorious sounding miles and I've been reading about the break in period (1000 miles of carbon build up). How does that affect the sound? Can anyone chime in on how it affects it?
thanks
Update on the hood crack: brought it in to koons falls church this morning and they showed me Ford's response claiming it's a stress crack and that they wouldn't cover it. They are stepping up and taking care of it at no charge as what they call a "CLP" ( No idea what it stands for). It's going...
So i heard back from the dealership regarding the paint crack on the hood. Ford once again denied the claim (kind of alarming). However Koon's at falls church is claiming that they'll take care of it, so we'll see how it goes.
