  1. A/S tires year-round or separate summer/winter sets?

@sonofoldcars @BmacIL I grew up in northern Indiana, so I know how crazy the Midwest winters can get. If I was there now, it'd be two sets of tires, no doubt. That's if I even took the Mustang out in the winter to begin with. Since my wife and I moved to NC from Florida in 2007 though, I can...
  2. Random question about Base GT 18in wheels

There's not much of a market for the 18" OEM wheels because they're so easy to come by. You'll either have to sell them for a song or take them to a scrapyard and get paid $4 per 100lbs you turn in. As I modded my car the past few months, I've taken all the OEM parts to a friend of mine who does...
  3. New Member from VT-15 Year old converted

Good on you, OP! Seems like you have a good head on your shoulders and aren't afraid of hard work. It's a good thing I never had a 400hp car when I was 16 though. I'd have a suspended license at best or be dead at worst. :headbonk: Man, 20 is NOTHING. You've got your whole life ahead of you...
  4. A/S tires year-round or separate summer/winter sets?

Interesting read. Thanks for sharing that. I agree. If we had more consistent snow here, then yes, I'd definitely have two full sets of tires for the car and there'd be no need for this thread. While thousands of people here in NC drive on their A/S tires year-round without incident, I drive a...
  5. Why is the ride choppy?

Stock suspension would be my guess. I've done no other suspension work to my car besides lowering springs and it grabs the freeway MUCH better than before. Just changing the springs eliminates a LOT of pitch and roll in the body.
  6. Daily Drivers

This. I work from home a couple days each week and actually look forward to the days I have to drive in to the office because the car is so much fun!
  7. A/S tires year-round or separate summer/winter sets?

I currently have the stock 18x8 wheels with 235/50 P-Zero Nero all-season tires. I'm getting new wheels and tires in September. The Neros have 12k miles on them now and will likely be at or over 15k miles by the fall. I'm trying to decide between two options: Buy new wheels with summer-only...
  8. X pipe vs. H pipe

Heartthrob FTW! Great price and a cinch to install! This is DEFINITELY true. Between my tune and my exhaust setup, I dropped my MPGs a decent amount, although I'm enjoying the car about 10x more now, so it's a worthy trade-off.
  9. Cars and coffee Morrisville / Cary Nc

The next Cars & Coffee in Morrisville is this Saturday from 8-11am. The weather is supposed to be really nice with a high of 76 and mostly sunny. Hope to see some of you there!
  10. How to street park

Just buy a bunch of these and string them around the car like a belt. :D http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Dockmate-Fender-Cover-Fits-5-5-x-20-Fenders&i=887765
  11. Insurance on a heavily modified Mustang

My car is a DD and never raced. Our Progressive policy includes $1,000 worth of "Custom Equipment Coverage" and I got an additional $2,000 at a cost of just $37 every 6-months. For now, that will take care of my CAI, exhaust, shifter and a few other small things. I'll be bumping the coverage up...
  12. Who has replaced muffler with H pipe

As long as you have cats and you're not obnoxious with the throttle, you should be fine as far as the police are concerned, at least in my neck of the woods. The Roush axle-back mufflers are a flow-through design as well and my exhaust is incredibly loud when I punch the throttle. However, since...
  13. Who has replaced muffler with H pipe

Heartthrob H-pipe plus Roush axle-backs here. Started with the mufflers, then added the H-pipe four months later. This is a REALLY loud combo at cold start and WOT. Sounds amazing though and everyone who rides in the car loves it. Drive with the windows down for ultimate effect. This...
  14. How old are S550 owners? What cars have you owned so far?

36 years old. No hand-me-downs or freebies. Vehicles I've owned, most recent first: 2015 Ford Mustang GT - bought used October 2015 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 - bought new July 2014 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x2 - bought new February 2013 2003 Nissan Frontier SE Crew...
  15. First mods; need opinions

Exhaust was my first mod too, then I went for lowering springs and the stripes. After that, in order, I did a new shift knob, cold air intake with a tune, window tints, JLT oil separator, sound dampening insulation in the whole trunk, Steeda clutch pedal spring, Steeda strut tower brace and...
  16. Steeda-equipped? Let's see your photos!

I REALLY need to dust off my digital SLR and take some nice pics of my car. In the meantime, here's my always-growing list of Steeda parts and a crummy smartphone engine bay shot from a couple weeks ago. Strut Tower Brace Ultra Light Jacking Rails Tri-Ax Short-throw Shifter 35lb Clutch Spring...
  17. Warning about MGW!!! For DD

ANY aftermarket shifter will be a glaring improvement over the stock garbage.
  18. X pipe fall off while driving?

No failures of my H-pipe clamps or Roush axle-back clamps thus far in a few thousand miles of driving. I just torqued them down good and tight. I guess you could use some blue or red Loctite on the threads if you were worried about clamps coming loose but didn't want anything welded.
  19. Fake GT's?

I took a coworker to lunch in my car today and we saw another S550 in the parking lot that was either an EB or a V6. I didn't get that good a look at it. He asked me how I knew it wasn't a GT and I told him about the side badges, different grille, different wheels, different trunk emblem, etc...
  20. How come the front grill is 90% closed right at the air entrance?

Rain water and bugs in your intake filter are the least of your worries while driving the car fast. I'd be FAR more concerned about traction and steering at high speeds. Besides, there is already a sizeable factory hole in my hood right above my CAI filter that can allow water in when I'm...
