Thank you sir!
It looked like I’d have to cut the opening at the top of the strut towers to get the camber I wanted with aftermarket plates. I wanted to avoid cutting, which lead me down the path of my solution. I’ve done 4 track days with this setup now and it’s working well. My front tires...
In this video, I walk through mods I did to my 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 CFTP. I needed more negative camber for track days, which lead me to adding camber bolts. This led to adding 3/4” wheel spacers which required 4” wheel studs that I had to grind to make work. With this combo, I...
Have you hit any local wrap shops. I bet they can get a color that’s pretty close.
Question though. When the bright orange wrap gets some rock chips, the color underneath will be drastically different. What do you do then?
Yes, that’s a buddy of mine in the yellow CFTP. It was even closer than it looked as the camera pushes objects away. I was on the inside of the turn giving the outside car a path and had to get on the brakes for the tight turn. I saw a mirror filled with yellow. Fortunately he didn’t hit me...
Not your typical track video! See the 760 hp 4100 lb BEAST get flogged at Circuit Of The Americas captured on 6 cameras in 4K + 360 cam! This is the advanced red run group playing with Porsches and supercars with passing in the corners. I match my personal best from the previous day of 2:23.6...
The JLT Rock Blockers will dislodge and turn sideways at higher speeds. To prevent this, I wrapped the outer edge with black friction tape. I have subsequently added the Jaeger Bros flaps, which offer superior protection, especially the hips area by the rear wheels. My PPF protects any marks the...
BRAKES! This video is all-things brakes on the 2020-2022 Shelby GT500. I start with the numbers and then dive into caliper removal, the pads, changing brake pads, brake fluid, bleeding, rotor removal, rotor turning/resurfacing, brake bedding, Caliperflexion front caliper stud mod and finish with...
When I was typing what I said above, I was fully expecting you to chime in about the one time I wore my harness on the street. You got me. I looked goofy as shit.
You are under the assumption I use the harness on the street…? The harness straps normally live behind the seat. I use the seatbelt for street driving, but probably still look “goofy as shit.”
Thank you sir! 🍻
My Track Addict app lists my best theoretical lap of 2:19 if I piece all my good parts together on one perfect lap. I don’t see that ever happening though. I felt like I was pushing the car pretty hard. We shall see when I go back. I’m running Eagles Canyon this weekend.
Thanks Bob! I get a smile when I pass a GT3 RS or a McLaren in the corners!
Thank you sir! My drivetrain is all stock. I ran in Track Mode/auto-shifting. My stock air box has a Wix filter because if you haven’t looked yet, the Motorcraft air filter is on backorder, just like the oil filter.
I made a video about changing tires on CF wheels and what to look for. After making the video, I discovered a shop a fellow 2020 GT500 owner has. He practiced on his own CF wheels and has them down pat. I go to him exclusively now… going again tomorrow.
The heavy nose will result in understeer...
With the square 305 setup, you can dismount the tires and rotate them to even out the wear. There is no sacrifice of grip as it is far superior to the SC2 grip.
As for mods, none would be required. I wanted aggressive front camber, so I added camber bolts, longer front wheel studs and spacers...
305s all the way around. If you look at the specs, they run considerably wide. It’s been awhile since I’ve looked, but I recall the Hoosier 305s being similar to the 315 SC2s.
I’ve done some mods to the front of my car to help with this. I’ll eventually be making videos about them. I have to do...
The GT500 is a turn-key race car. The base is no slouch on the track and the CFTP dials it up to 11. Yes, you can do mods to tweak it, but it’s badass right out of the box. The base seats will leave you tired after a day at the track… you’ll spend the day with your left knee pressed against the...
Thanks! I plan to make a video that covers the new GT500 and HPDE/track days.
Tire pressures… depends on the track and how aggressively you attack corners. I have found if I use Ford’s recommendation of 28 psi cold, my hot pressures end up 38-40 psi, which is too much. I have been hitting the...
