  1. failed rod bearing - 2k miles on the engine

I can't watch it now as I am at work. After the knocking I didn't go over 2k rpms and used barely enough throttle to move the car, it still failed completely right after, so I don't think you guys should worry if your cars are still running ok. As in, worry it will end up like mine, obviously...
  2. failed rod bearing - 2k miles on the engine

ticking/knocking noise... then very shortly after all hell broke loose inside the engine. I didn't even have time to stop somewhere safe to get it towed. I did stop once but when I saw 10 ticks on me I drove .5 miles away to the next exit, there was barely a shoulder too so I should have moved...
  3. failed rod bearing - 2k miles on the engine

Because that is what the Ford mechanics told me.
  4. failed rod bearing - 2k miles on the engine

If the car can't handle 4 short sessions, then the public should know they can't take it to the track, not even once without a chance of major engine failure. It was a manufacture defect and the fact I did some slow laps around a road course doesn't mean they shouldn't fix it. If I had abused...
  5. failed rod bearing - 2k miles on the engine

My engine blew 2 rod bearings this past weekend - Never over revved, temps always in check, oil is what it calls for on the oil cap. edit: unnecessary bitching removed, I spoke to the dealer and I'm 100% happy with how they are handling this. P.S.S. completely stock car apart from pads and...
  6. Racing Schools

Skip Barber has the mustang now as one of their performance cars. It's pretty cheap for a "half day" event.
  7. Strange dents in hood

What's underneath that? I'd check on mine but I'm at work. Where is the 3rd one you mentioned? I only see 2
  8. Strange dents in hood

Based on the pictures I'd say it's just an optical illusion.
  9. BMR Urethane diff and Delrin cradle bushings review

Please release race springs and CB005, my boat needs some discipline.
  10. Anyone from New Hampshire?

Yup it was Duncan and he is great indeed! I bought the GT PP Premium that was ordered back in December and arrived at the end of March. I picked it up on April 1st, so it had only been there for about a week. The guy that ordered it told them to keep the deposit (1k) but I think they were...
  11. Anyone from New Hampshire?

Best Ford? They sold me mine, someone ordered it and decided they didn't want it anymore. I haven't seen ONE on the road after I got mine on April 1st
  12. Avoiding Bad MT habbits

Starting out: Give the gas pedal tiny little jabs, if done right the revs will hover at 1k or slightly under, start letting out the clutch and make your small "jabs" just big enough to keep the revs still even though you are accelerating, by the time the revs match your speed you can just take...
  13. Avoiding Bad MT habbits

Forget those guys, I will reply to all your questions. I'm at work so give me a few minutes. No such thing as over thinking when it comes to driving.
  14. Warning for mt-82 owners

When the fastest you've driven your mustang is as fast as your drive your trucks, It is no surprise you'd want it to be automatic. To each his own. Tracking a slushbox is the last thing I'd find efficient
  15. Build Week 2/2/15

The original one I ordered in November with a 2/2 build week now has an EDD of 5/3...
  16. Warning for mt-82 owners

Just because you are not skilled enough to get the most of out a manual transmission doesn't mean it is worse. Which one do you think is faster at a road course, an AT or MT? With you, obviously an AT, but that' doesn't make it better. Some people track their cars (by track I mean road...
  17. Post your MPG's

No it isn't bad. 2nd in PP is short enough that it can be considered 1st. the trick is to have the clutch out completely by the time the revs are slightly above 1k, there is minimal slippage. When I skip gears I go from 2nd - 4th - and then 5th or 6th depending on the speed limit.
  18. Post your MPG's

I'm so very glad I'm not the only one. It seems like the guys below 20mpg might have driven it....less easy.. during the first few hundred miles. Is this our punishment? Or maybe we get less fuel mileage because we also get more POWER :D In 100k miles though we might have half the hp...
  19. Post your MPG's

I skipped gears and got it up to 17. 2nd works better than first, it's great. I can manage 17mpg, 11 was harsh. Edit: just like Sc00ter 17 is while driving very carefully. shifting around 2k - with just enough throttle to accelerate slowly
