Thank you all for your help. I have a regional service manager and the service manger from the dealer I bought the car from looking into my case. They know I want a new engine.
When the car broke I was more than 35 miles from the dealer I bought the car from, and 35 miles is the most they...
I don't know what sport does, but I do know what track mode does.
It allows a pretty steep angle, like a lot of opposite lock - then it kicks in HARD.
It's the most dangerous driving mode there is.
On normal, it kicks in at the right time and it just works.
Track mode is an accident...
Ok, so the parts that just arrived are the block (bare block, not long block) and crankshaft. The bearings will be ordered soon.
Rods are being re-used and he didn't mention piston heads and I forgot to ask.
So if they are just doing a long or short block it should be fine? They are also ordering a crankshaft and measuring out the bearing so that can be ordered too.
I'm going to get a list of the parts ordered and post it here
I don't need a loaner car but I will ask them for it today because I'm sure they will want to speed up the fix if they are paying for a loaner.
I will also ask which parts specifically were ordered and request an email or something in writing with the information.
I don't want to be the...
They said a "field service technician" was there and he "Still wanted to fix the engine" .
They said this without any context or background info.
Why are they counting pennies on this? Makes no sense to me either.
Yup, and I agree.
It's been almost 2 weeks and from what I can tell (the person handling my case has been out all week...every day they tell me "I hope he is here tomorrow") they JUST ordered parts, and will have to order more parts once they put that together.
Last I heard they are ordering a...
I was quoted 23k from the dealer that is fixing it. I'm sure if I try hard enough I can get more for it. But there is no denying dealers or anyone buying a car wouldn't want to pay full price for a car that had the engine replaced at 2k miles.
Yup. Basically anyone buying the car will see that it had to have an engine replaced and be wary of it. So if you trade it in for something else the dealer will give you much much less than what it would normally be worth.
I was supposed to get a call today to get more information but I haven't heard anything. I will later today.
They did say Carfax will show an engine replacement. (value of the car is now basically half of the original MSRP)
After some research it looks like 0-20 cannot be used at the track...
The good news is that you're not at fault for it so Ford won't have a problem fixing it when it does blow to bits.
And who knows it might be something completely different.
At this point though I am going to talk to the dealer and see if they will buy this back from me, I am fine with losing...
