Alright so I drove 50 miles today with the lucas additive and dropped out about a half quart and the noise was greatly reduced.

So the noise was still there. I drained a little out and refilled with lucas oil treatment. Still there. I checked with some other folks and they said the noise comes during a new oil change and goes away after couple hundred miles.

Agreed I will take it to the dealer this weekend if the noise surfaces again. Would you recommend Ford racing and will it still be considered non factory or just continue go with mc?

Thats the same thing I heard. Im just worried if I continue with my mods and finally put a supercharger on and then couple thousand miles down the road i blow something.

I will see if it ticks today after work. Im also getting ready to install a whipple soon so i want to make sure i don't have any issues with the motor first.

Looks like our oil changes are the same then. Mine just started after I changed it to amsoil. Went from factory oil to royal purple to redline and now amsoil. I will check and see the zinc content of these different oils. What oil do you use?

How many miles have you had it for? Do you notice it getting louder in certain scenarios in example when it gets really hot or if you run the engine hard?

Im hoping thats not it. I will see if it continues. If still does it, I will apply a zinc additive and see how that goes and continue testing from there. A lot of people are noticing these ticking noises after oil changes. My theory is the zinc being washed out.

I had the A/C off when i was coming home and just riding with windows down. I did have it on when I drove to my location stayed there for a hour and then left with ac off and i heard the tick. I would expect to hear a hissing sound of the condensation drops from the ac lines as they evaporate...

Also found some info that the motorcraft break in oil carries good amounts of zinc in it, this is my 3rd oil change, i changed oil at 1500, changed it at 5000, and now again at 8500, i wonder if the oils don't have much zinc in them and when it gets really hot it starts to tick.

I'm using the amsoil one. So this morning I turned it on and no more tick... I wonder if it's because it got hot?

So I guess it's the heat then. I was using redline before this and never had it until I switched it to amsoil... I will see if this continues with a cold start if it does not then I will be switching back to redline if it only does it when getting hot.

I have 8500 miles and I just changed it to amsoil. I don't think it's the oil to be honest. I just noticed it coming home. I will check tomorrow if it does tomorrow after everything cools down.
