Ahh yes, the 90k 'everyman' pony car. And are you alluding that GM priced the C8 based on what the GT500 was going to cost? Can you please share some of the drugs you're on?
A google search for Shelby GT500KR shows nothing other than 2008 and 1968.. so you must have some insider info. Please...
Is Ford making a GT500KR? You seem to be the only one talking about this and not offering up much info.
It's obvious you think the GT500 is the 'underdog' here. Exactly how is the car that cost 15k more and is up 260hp the underdog?
They picked the C8 over that 911..

Drag racing isn't the purpose of the C8, either. Hell, it's not even a track specific car like the GT350R is. Have to wait for the GS version for that.
And with a starting price of 73k, even a C8 Z51 + mag ride is about 5k less than the R.
I hope a decent amount of 1LT Z51 Vettes sell, because that will be the used car performance bargain. How many GT500's will sell at 74k?
The absolute top dog Mustang is being compared to the base C8. Ford hasn't really ever had an answer to the Corvette, except for the Shelby models. Also...
Ford is last to the game with a 700+ hp engine. LT5 may be 'down' 5 hp, but it makes 75 lb/ft more torque. Hellcat Redeye makes 797hp and 707 lb/ft. They're playing catch up.
But anywho, this the the GT350 vs C8 thread. If I had 60k to drop, it would be a tough battle to choose between a...
107: Victories worldwide for Corvette Racing – 99 in North America and eight at Le Mans.
The Vette has more racing heritage than any Ford. And nah, no need to stamp some old guys name on the car just to make other old guys feel special.
'unique' among pony cars, sure. But many, many vehicles come with a DCT and have for years. Wide track, big brakes.. just standard performance model stuff. Suspension? It's just mag ride. My $45k 1LE has that. Also has an ELSD which Ford hasn't seemed to figure out yet. GM put DSSV...
The GT350 is unique due to its FPC. The GT500 is just another supercharged pony car, it's been done before. Although not quite drug out this long.
350 / 500 are the same platform - adding 200lbs to the nose of a car doesn't help it handle better.
Well, the 100k CFTP GT500 is an optioned up 25k BASE Mustang so...? C7 Z06 starts at 81k, C7 ZR1 at 123k. I would imagine the C8 pricing will be 5-10k ahead of that.
Don't remember which review, but one of them mentioned no issues with heat. I think all the track tests were done with the...
Playing around I priced out a 1LT how I would order it (Z51 / FE4 / comp. seats) and it came out to 67.6k. Priced out the same in 2LT, 76.7k. 9k extra, but we all know there will be rebates out the wazoo on these things in a year or so.
The only thing I would really miss on the 1LT would be...
