Thanks for the great write up!
It'll probably be a while as i have too many other projects going on right now but this is the top of my mod list! I don't drive in the real cold weather but in Colorado I like to have the top down any day it is sunny and my hands can get pretty frigid! I will...
So it sounds like with this upgrade you will get NAV showing on the cluster, right? Will it do this when using CarPlay as well? Just curious as this would be a really nice feature and help justify spending the money for this upgrade. I also really want the heated wheel so I'm kind of waiting...
Ahh that makes sense. Seems like a PITA to do all the time, though. I'd rather get a solution using a neutral switch like what my Subi has (if our cars don't have a factory one, which I don't think they do).
I mostly want remote start just to pre-warm the engine so I can get in and take off...
Parking brake doesn’t work as a “safety” anyway. The starter is strong enough to turn past the parking brake. Don’t ask how I know this (lol)
You need a true neutral position switch to safely add a remote start to any manual transmission. Do our cars have this? My WRX has one and I wired up...
Yeah still wondering about this?? Anyone with an '18 get it to work and HOW does it work? I have hacked Sync 3.0 on my upgraded 2015, so not sure if/when I will ever get Waze to work...
EDIT: Just saw this on the Sync 3 thread: https://techcrunch.com/2018/02/26/fo...for-ios-users/ Looks like...
+1
There's a sensor that senses the key and it is mounted under the cupholder. If you took the console out during your install, it is an easy thing to miss to plug that back in!
Yeah I think the difference would be huge with FI due to the elevation losses! I've heard/read ~20-22% loss for NA engines around here (Springs is a little higher; my house is at 7,000 ft). You can also bump the pressure more due to the difference, so as to balance it out even more. For...
You'll certainly know the difference! I'm planning on FI as soon as I save up my allowance :D
Haven't tried this myself, but could try and E85 tune? They supposedly make good power, though you'll never fully rid of the oxygen deficiency without FI, though. You can just keep modding to make up...
Yeah they have a few annoyances like that. They do offer third-party radio apps to work with Carplay, so probably a matter of time before they allow maps. They just want to get people to use Apple Maps, which is better than it used to be but still not on par with Waze and GM.
I switched from...
Yes. Caplay doesn't allow any third party map apps (yet, if ever). I believe Android Auto allows Waze and other map apps, correct?
What us Apple guys are waiting on is for Sync Applink, or whatever they're calling it, to work on iOS and Waze which is what Ford is promising for version 3.0...
Got mine in October. One place was a small place in Utah that looked to have a lot of older cars but happened to just get in a 2016 Focus ST that was rolled over, so that place for sure didn't know the value of what I got. They sold me the parts for their typical price sheet of "$50 for radio"...
Check around on Car-part.com. I got two screens/APIMs on there real cheap. Got one for $75 shipped and another for $180 shipped. Both were even Nav versions which I didn't care if it had or not. One was out of a 2016 Focus and other out of a 2016 Escape. Just find a place that has them and call...
Same here. I toggled on "mobile apps" on Sync, and disabled Carplay in case that gets in the way. Updated Waze to latest and still nothing. Verified Waze had "control Waze from car unit" toggled on as well. I am also on the unofficial 3.0.
Anyone with a 2018 can confirm? Did all 2018s ship...
According to the press releases, Waze should work with version 3.0. I understand there may never be an "official" 3.0 for 2016/17s, but if I have an unofficial version 3.0 on my system, won't the software just think it is a 2018? I didn't think the software discriminated against the MY in any...
I already have Sync 3 3.0 on my car when I did the upgrade a couple of months ago (using the "unofficial" 3.0 update). Wonder if I will be all set once Waze updates their app?
No worries, man! We all gotta start somewhere :D
For dash cam and phone mount, check out Elevated Audio. I've heard good things about these guys (but never have used them myself since I am more of a DIYer) :D Here's their FB page...
