That sounds really odd.. The numbers on the tranny, bar codes etc match up with the build numbers of the car as far as I know... I'd double check that if I were you. And if true, I would never buy a car from that dealer again. Sounds shady to me.
So how long have cars had wheel bearings? It's amazing that so many basic items, wheel bearing torque, short bolts in Camaro drive shafts and other basic "car building 101" slip by... Actually it's kind of sad IMHO.. With all of the tracking, bar codes, computer scanning and literally being able...
Not a problem at all ! We are both on the same page! I'm just hoping these noise issue's get resolved so I can purchase my next Mustang in peace and enjoy the car. They are such beautiful cars and it's a shame that people are having these problems.
I wasn't comparing them.
I was responding to Lo Pony's post where he stated:
"The noise is not just exclusive to modular Fords. Every mustang GT engine since 1986 I have owned has made quite a bit of rattling between two and 3000 RPM. My 86 GT did it, my 88 5 L LX did it, my 95 GT did it, my 99...
My 2003 GT vert with ~170k + miles doesn't rattle and it's never rattled except occasionally on start up which lasts about 3 seconds or so till oil pressure builds up even with a filter that has an ADB valve.. The motor is silent. I don't burn any oil and you can balance a quarter on the engine...
Yea, the comments were disappointing. Someone should post a link to this forum on the Jaloponik site.
If this were a DI problem, Ford would have issued a TSB from day one.
Rule #1 is no aftermarket anti-theft devices. Even if installed by the dealer. If someone wants your car bad enough they will flatbed it. As for the key cloners and so forth, a simple switch that cuts the fuel pump will suffice. Hide it well. Something like a hidden GPS might be useful. Even...
My 03 vert had a leak where water would end up behind the front passenger seat and flood the floor pan. I pulled the seats and carpet out and sprayed water around in an effort to find the leak. Turns out in that model car water runs from front to back through the frame rails which are under the...
This is like troubleshooting 101....
Step 1: Is the car really overheating? Steam? Smoke? etc....
Step 2: Yes... Physical problem: a) Thermostat, b) low coolant/wrong coolant c) collapsed hose d) blockage e) water pump f) belt etc
Step 3: No it's not really overheating. No signs of over...
I had a 2000 Dodge Caravan that kept turning off highly intermittently. It would always start right up but got nerve racking to drive. Finally died in a parking lot and wouldn't start. Towed to the dealer, under warranty. I had already checked battery, connections, fuse box, grounds, replaced...
After reading mega numbers of posts I'm thinking aside from the obvious manufacturing defects where cylinders get scored, metal particles in the oil filter etc, the run of the mill BBQ tick is related to tolerances and specifically the sum of the tolerances.
So let us say part #1 in the engine...
It's really a conundrum !
You make an interesting point about American Muscle having peaked... I'm starting to wonder.. Word is, all rumor and Internet gossip, that Dodge is going to replace the hemi with a turbo straight 6 ala BMW... If that's true, I'm gone for good...
I know how you feel :( I have an 03 GT Vert and have been looking to upgrade since it's got about 160k on it. Still runs smooth as silk, no oil burn, nothing... Of course another Mustang was at the top of my list so I started in early 2018 looking for a leftover 2017.. Having read of the tales...
Looks like our friends over in the Camaro group are being solicited to join a class action suit for the A8 transmission shudder problems.

I would suggest getting social media involved. This is what the guy who spearheaded the Focus head gasket problems did. Maybe reach out to that person for suggestions on how to proceed. Someone familiar with the problem should definitely contact Jalopnik to clue them in on this one. Jalopnik has...
