Get a weighted shift knob - makes a ton of difference. Don't shift rough until warm, let it glide in by weighted knob. Shift 3-4k. Solved 90% of issues. My only gripe is the thumping going from neutral to first. Especially if car is slightly moving you can hear/feel it.
