When I met my wife she refused to drive on the tollway and would call me crying and I would have to talk her down. She is an ex-Sarg in the Army so this shocked me considering otherwise she is a tough cookie. Now she owns the roads and has had a few Mustang's herself during our marriage and will...
I have the 20" Goodyears at 40psi, ran 1.9's consistently. I'm still of the belief that such short sidewall tires don't benefit from lowering pressure but going to try it the next time I go if it ever cools down.
In terms of putting power down sans anything else you have tires as the option and there are plenty of options for that. If you're worrying about breaking something by using DR's on a bone stock car, the odds are against anything breaking but when racing anything can happen so what level of risk...
At first this color made me think what the hell was the OP thinking? As time goes by I understand his intent more and more, I still think it's crazy to repaint a new car but that's neither here nor there, I'm changing my opinion and saying I dig the car.
Can I count a raccoon committing suicide by running into the front of my car at 50? :frusty:
No damage that I can see but the bastard was damn near across the street already then turned around and bam!
Keep in mind that "flash up" could also break the tires loose so it's a fine line. ;) I found I got 1.9's keeping the rpm's to around 1800/1900 or so, less flash up but also less spin from the same 20" Goodyears.
Agreed, I found in D drag mode works best and of course advanced trac off. It's getting hot out now so not sure when I'm going back to the track.
I'm going to get a CAI and tune before the next track time.
Back in the day people weren't allowed to stand around by the starting line, these days they're friggin everywhere. I had to honk at some to get out of my way trying to stage the car! GLD needs to tighten up, that place is run too loose.
Considering the DA and temps this is fantastic!! Great job!
Drag mode is still the best even with the hit going into 2nd, our MPH is identical!
Street tires with no water on them do no damage to prepared start lines, the guy was an ahole.
With that DA temps it's not easy to run good times. I was in similar DA and conditions a few weeks ago and ran a 12.1@116 with a 1.9 short time on 20's.
I always use drag mode and get a pretty...
My 2013 Taurus Limited had cooled seats, they were awesome. My Mustang's cooled seats aren't the same, I believe it's just a fan blowing air through the seat which works fine but definitely not AC where the Taurus would frost the nether regions and my back pretty damn well.
I can assure you, from a dig or a roll he will not pull on you. If he does, there is something wrong with that 18 or, bad driver mod. Every race I have seen at the drag strip shows similar short times and the 18 putting distance on the earlier S550's the whole way down the track unless of course...
